I've been lurking around here for a while and have noticed several threads about prolonging the life of the tip on a Pro-Pointer. Here's how I did it:
I work in the aircraft business. When we change out or build oxygen, hydraulic, water lines and we use new fittings they usually come with thread protectors that we throw away. I was thinking that these would be great for the Pro-Pointer!
I filed down about 1 inch of the scraper flush with the body. Then just slid the protector on. It's a fairly tight fit and does take a little effort to get off. I like the orange color. It would make it easier to find if you misplaced it.
The inside diameter on the protector is .875.
