Wowow

MOST likely gold filled. Victorian to 1920's in age. There are a LOT of eyeglass and spectacle collectors out there.

Now... HERE is the FUN part! replace the temples (side bits) and get modern lenses fitted into them and WEAR 'em!!

Yes! Victorian and early eyeglasses ARE wearable! Most optical labs will require you to sign a waiver in case they damage or break the frames, but if the frame is well built (and most Vickies ARE!) they are re-usable!

I have a stunning pair of beautiful sterling silver octagonal frames that are Victorian and looks every bit as good as the day they were first sold. I also have a regular pair of round Victorian "John Lennon" glasses AND a set of Colonial wig-glasses with collapsible temples with a hole at the end where a ribbon was threaded through to fit over the large powdered wings people wore! An expert dated them to the 1700's! I also have a 1920's lorgnette (folding eyeglasses with a handle) and two or three pince nez.

Trust me... if you wear Vickies... NOBODY will have the same frames as you! Glases frames back then were considered jewelry and built to BE re-used again and again.
