Whats a good beginner detector for coins?

metdetdevl- Thanks for the info. Looks and sounds pretty good. Only $200 Not bad. Need reviews on it though.

I have found scads of old coins with my ACE 250. Many in the 6 inch range using the stock coil.

The big eliptical coil goes deeper but the ACE 250 is so light that the big coil is poorly balanced. On flat terrain it is no problem but for broken terrain with heavy brush the stock coil works better.

For target rich areas I would recommend getting a sniper coil. Goes surprisingly deep.

I agree it does need reviews but because it just hit the market no one has it yet to get the reviews. We are going to do a field test in the next week or so and that might give us some insight into its capabilities but Teknetics/First Texas puts out a great product so it can't be that far off from the other units.

I have to agree with everyone else though the ACE 250 is a super detector and is our top seller in this price range.

ACE 250 w/o a doubt. great for coins and very user friendly. just push a button for your setting and dig dig dig!!!! i have one myself and love it!
