What Somewhat Common Dig Has Eluded You?

A 90% silver coin of any kind... found a 40% war nickel about 8 years back, but never a silver dime, quarter, or half.... although I have found a few at the coinstar machine. This is my 11th year of mding.

Mine would be a Barber Dime. I've dug a Seated Dime, Mercs, Silver Rosies. But no Barber dimes yet. Also looking for my first V nickel and Standing Liberty quarter or any type of silver half. What has eluded you?

Since this post, i found a silver half a few weeks ago. Hopefully, I will be able to scratch a few more of these off my "eludes me" list!

I have had several of the rising sun Australian hat badges here in England over the years, mainly from a military training area.

Wow, only saw your reply now. Lots of people who hunt old army camps over here find them, but I haven't got a single one yet

I haven't found anything common yet, I guess that's cause I'm new and haven't dug a single hole  Hoping to come up with a wish list of things I'd like to dig this season though as I venture out.

For me, it is a Walking Liberty half and a Standing Liberty quarter.

I am curious as to in what universe a pine tree shilling is "somewhat common". Here in MA, the sole place they were minted, they are "pretty darn rare".
I'd never heard of a pine tree shilling, had to look it up. Very cool coin! I'm about 3 hours North of Boston so it's feasible some of those made it up here. That would be a great find.

Barber Half been going ten years can't seem to find one and a gold coin but that wouldn't really be considered a somewhat common hunt. Figured I add it for the hell of it.

Any silver half, a war nickel, a v nickel, and a barber quarter to round out the twentieth century.

UPDATED: I have dug a Barber Dime and a Walker half since starting this thread! :D

It's fun to look back at my older posts. Since I posted this... I've found the Barber Dime, Walking Liberty Half, Franklin Half, Barber Nickel, and a Standing Liberty Quarter. Keep hunting! If older coins is your thing.. they are still out there!

Those SLQ’s can give off quirky signals because usually, their worn. I’ve found about 5, all were goofy hits I almost passed up. Except for one, a crisp 1920 S.
