what other hobbies are you into?

Hunting, shooting, and pretty much doing anything outdoors. But my main hobby is teaching my son the worthless knowledge of things that will actually pay off for him later in life. As I found out from my dad.:D

I'm a pistol shooter and instructor. That's my biggest hobby, and probably trading, buying, and selling stuff on Craigslist is my other biggest hobby. I'm doing my best to instill the thirst for knowledge in my boys. The six year old is a sponge, interested in all things and sharp as a tack. He'd rather talk about what's on the history channel or whatnot than watch cartoons. The 11 year old though, that's another story. Last week he ate unidentified berries on the playground at school and earned an activated charcoal shake and laxatives for his efforts.

well speaking of other hobby. i venture into photoghraphy for 4-5 yrs. slowed down last yr since camera and gears are becoming rediculously expensive and no return of investment then i found my very first BH quicksilver in amazon for $90 that bug really bit me...
here are some of my work. the rest are posted on flickr under rudjard

I also dabble in photography.
Not a pro or anything, just like to take nice pics for myself.
Don't pick up my cameras much since I started this hobby, however.

just curious, to me it seems that people in certain hobbies gravitate towards others that are similar. for me:

metal detecting (obviously)
fishing (unfortunately i opened a tackle shop and killed the "hobbie"
guns
knives
disc golf
flashlights

those are the main ones. ive taken a metal detector with me while disc golfing one hell of a day. now i just need to play a night round so i can disc golf while metal detecting, using a flashlight to see where i left my knife, because my gun jammed trying to shoot a squirrel i was fishing for

:laughing::laughing:

Good post and replies.....Thanks to all..... My previous reply of :laughing:was to your main ones.................As to mine it is reading..... that way I can stay outta trouble and don't mess up....

Archery, hunting, very little fishing and almost no camping but some GEOCaching and not as muct as I did before Metal Detecting hit the top of my list.

Hobbies

Fishing...hard water or soft, doesn't make difference. I like to kayak fish, there are plenty of small lakes in west central nebraska that hold big fish. I collect coins, arrowheads and casino chips. I have two quadcopters, enjoy flying them. My professional hobbies include forecasting weather for large wildland fires and storm chasing. I am a meteorologist. My greatest joy however comes with spending time with my little girl. She takes up the majority of my free time now.

im amazed how many fisherman also dirt fish ;) heres a pic of my tackle shop

I WANT TO DO THAT!

Too bad the price is $5000!!!!! WOW

when i did it in 2007 it was 3200 bucks and they let me make payments. think about it too for 28 days you wont spend a penny. i remember impact thats the first five days. you get no food or water except what you find. if you want to see nine people puking dont feed them have them hike for about 5 hours then let them eat wild onions. actually only 5 of nine puked, i didnt but honestly wish i had.

Of course md'ing comes first, then woodworking/woodcarving, stained glass, working on antique clocks, coin collecting. There are more, but they are the things I haven't gotten good at yet.

i would love to. i order through american rod an gun (bass pro shop's wholesale division), but the price is higher than you can find online. not to mention i destroyed my ankle broke both the bones had to have surgery. they put 2 huge plates and 6 screws in there two of which look like they got them at home depot (massive). i had no insurance and i got more medical bills than i can even begin to remember.

irons u bastard ive always wanted an enduro. one of these days. the one in the back looks like a klm the one in the front is an old bmw?

Enduro's or dual sports as they call them now are freaking awesome! I was bored on road bikes and we can ride these anywhere.

The front one is my 2009 KLR 650 and the white one is my wife's new Yamaha XT 250.

Other than the usual hunting and fishing, which I don't do enough of, I enjoy my motorcycle probably more than anything else I do. My Wife and I also have custody of our 6 year old Grandson and he's probably the most time consuming

I also use my Winters to build RC airplanes to fly in the Summer months. I'm working on an 88 inch Spitfire kit which I hope to have done by Spring.

I am into kayaking. I have one sit in hard kayak and two inflatable kayaks. I used to enjoy the whitewater, but any more I like a slower, lazy river or a lake. It is more of a relaxing thing for me.

I enjoy fishing too, both from the kayak and from the shore.

Photography and videography are also big things for me.

Lastly, I enjoy camping and hiking quite a bit. I don't do it as much as I used to, but I still enjoy it.

My other hobbies are silversmithing, riding my Harley & fishing. Detector fits in the saddle bag of the harley quite well!

Over the years I think that I have done a little bit of everything. Before I took up detecting I was into gun and knife collecting, camping and fishing and riding motorcycles. While still on the farm I reloaded and cast my own bullets for about nine rifle and handgun calibers. Now without a place to shoot I have sold all but eleven of my guns. I wish I still had my .44's and .45's. At one time I wanted to be a cartoonist and I have over a thousand Archie digest comics. I think I lost my sense of humor in Vietnam. Stuck in the city I am currently trying to rebuild my knife collection that was stolen several years ago. (See Knife Thread) I know who did it but I can't prove it. (A relative) I also like gadgets, LED flashlights are one of my favorites. I also collect ballpoint pens. I never turn down anything free given to me so I end up with a lot of different things. Lately I've been trying to write a book. At first I was going to write about silversmithing but it ended up more about the stupid customers that I have had over the years. I scrapped that and now it's a western. I'm also a self taught silversmith and just closed my shop that I have had for almost thirty years. I miss the work area more than anything since I make a lot of the things I use.
