A friend and I found the bad-ass graffitti spray-painted around our town quite humerous, especially since our town was not very hardcore.

Being teenagers we decided to have our own not-so-hardcore graffitti handles. Somehow I decided on Smug Monkey, while he went with Witchita Man, even though we lived in WV at the time.

Whenever we went fishing or was doing some other outdoor activity we would find a nice canvas (like a rock, wall, etc.) and scribble our threatening slogans for all to fear!

My warning: Beware the Smug Monkey!

His threat: Fear the Witchita Man!

We would use chalk or some form of soft white rock as a non-permanent means of our "rebellion"!

The moniker just kind of stuck with me.
