What’s your high number for Indian Heads in a year?

Seems to be a lot of low numbers and then some higher numbers. I take that as the difference between digging and skipping zinc signals.

For the most part I would agree. However, I do try to dig all coin signals, I just havn't hunted many old sites. :mder:

Last year was my first year - I found eight. Three at an old school, two at an old homesite, two in a farmyard next to my house.

2017 was my best career year for injuns, I found 59 that year. Here's the thread: https://metaldetectingforum.com/showthread.php?t=255565 ill never come close to that total again unless I stop trying to squeeze a few goodies out of my hammered areas and try something new. Good luck this year!

That's an amazing # of indian heads. I'm with you. I crushed Indians in 2017 but my totals were down in 2018. I didn't get out as much as I had hoped. Hopefully 2019 can hit that magical 50 number. Being one short of 50 certainly provides motivation! I could go back to some hammered sites as well and perhaps pull a few, but to really find them again we need some fresh sites!

I should go back and count my estimate of 50 is probably low, but I am about the same for 2018 as your 2017. I don't expect to find that many in a year ever again.

I think I found 3 a couple of years ago. Took me until September to find my only one last year. I dig all zinc signals hoping for that gold ring. Some day it will happen

Zero so far, but I’ve also been walking on what I think are zinc signals. Guess I’ll stop that foolishness! :D

IHPs are not very common where I live but are always fun to find. I got 3 last year and another one a couple weeks ago.

Nice ones. I enjoy digging Indians as much as silver coins. I do t know what it is about them. Always loved the design. Even if they are toasted they are still love them.

Last year, my first year of much detecting, I found 4. 1 so far this year.

Seriously, no more walking on zincs! I’ve been dying to find my first IH. To think I may have walked on one! Noob! :D

That’s awesome! I can’t wait to find my first. Congratulations on such a successful first year! :)

FYI a $5 US gold piece also will read like an Indian head. If you are out in CA you really need to be digging zincs, lol!!

Yeah, I saw that in someone’s comment as well. Not sure if it was this thread. Yeah I will be digging my zincs from now on. At least that’s my intention!

I’ve been a typical noob thinking I knew what I was passing on, even though I constantly read to dig it all until you are certain as to what you are walking on!

Here’s to an IHP AND a $5 gold piece!!! :D
