I finally got out today for the first time in 3 weeks. I sold the AT Pro this morning and the fellow that I sold it to said, "Wanna go?" Small world too, he lives a mile from me. I asked him if he had hunted an old school nearby and he said 50 times. Well I've hunted it a 100 times, but always with the smaller coils. Today I mounted the 11 incher on and followed him with his new Pro. When he found a dig, I would pass him until I found a dig. He was in front of me for 2 hours.

The 11" LG28 is now my go to coil. I walked the same paths as I have in the past. Without a doubt this coil has uncovered more finds on that little front yard of the school than ever before. Grabbed 5 wheaties 1917 1927 1938 1948 1958. A 1937 Mercury. Couple of silver dimes. Decent pile of clad. Scout clasp and a cool round copper piece with an eagle, stars and stripes.

The guy was impressed with the Legend and not so much with the AT Pro. Legend owners, the larger coils will find more targets.

Hi Mark.

If hypothetically you would have flagged those targets, and went over them with the 10x6, do you think the 10x6 would have hit them?

Incidentally, I've found that in my mild ground, the LG28 goes about 2" deeper than the LG24 on a dime lying flat. With the dime on edge, the depth is similar with both those coils. That's due to the smaller coil having a tighter field, which allows it to be more sensitive to the smaller target (dime on edge).

Killer job. Now you're going to have the LG35. That could get you even more. I only tried that coil once. With my COPD the LG28 was more than enough for me to swing.

Terry,

You're a funny guy! I've had 2 rotator cuff operations on my right shoulder and I swung the smaller coils for that reason alone. Haven't been hunting much lately and decided to try the LG28. The LG 35 would be like swinging a manhole cover. Thanks!

Diga,

I've gone over that same area with the 6" and the LG24 numerous times. I thought that I had really cleaned up that yard, but as we all know, NO area is completely hunted out. Thanks for your insight, it makes total sense.

Dang it Mark! My go to coil is the LG24, but now you've got me questioning that decision lol. I kind of lean toward the LG24, because it's so much more comfortable to swing than the LG28...but I know I'm missing some good stuff.

Are you thinking those finds were out of the depth range of the smaller coils?

Diga,

ME TOO!!! LG24 really isn't that much smaller, but yes, the larger coil definitely sniffed out todays' finds. I've been all over that yard time after time (with the 6" and LG24) and have pulled plenty of stuff down to 3-5 inches. All of the older coins I found today were 6"+ down.

I'll try to find some time tomorrow night and pull up my settings and maybe some of the smarter people here can fine tune things. Today was fun.

Dang buddy you are smoking it. I would so much like to get back out, but the local law enforcement frowns on the use of explosives. Party poopers!

So you sell this poor guy the ATP and then take him out for a proper spanking…brutal! It does look like something different is happening there, that’s just way too many coins to have been “missed” or “ground not covered”. Regardless…it appears you have a winner in hand!

I did change up my discrimination from F(Ferrous off) to A(all Metal) as was suggested by Airmetango and Jmaclen (and others). Noisy as heck.

Most of the pennies were in a spill next to a tree that I had not detected before.

I looked up the weight difference between all of the Legend coils, I was surprised.
Per Amazon
LG15 15 OZ .425KG 6"
LG24 16 OZ .453KG 9.5" x 6"
LG28 1.19 LBS .539 KG 11"
LG30 1.1LBS .498KG 12" x 9"
LG35 1.82 LBS .825KG 13.5" x 12.5"
