UPDATE...My third new Piece of JUNK Excalibur2 What to do now.. Watch the video

I think OBN is probably right,,,,,,just a crying shame that after THREE times, to still send a detector all the way to Hawaii and not check it,,,,,,I like the machines, but man, they can have some issues,,,,,I hope they get it right for you,,,,,

Cliff, was this the CZ you sold to DC?

Well to start I have been Detecting for over 35 years I have owned about every metal on the planet.. And yes the coil was not near the control box when this happened. I put it their when I done the video. if watch the video I turned the threshold up so you could hear what it was doing. Thanks for your input though.

Yup I watched the video or I wouldn't have seen the coil near the controls so I also saw that you turned up the threshold.
Never mentioned experience levels......you got me beat there. Hope you get it straightened out and please let us know what the problem is.

I get what you are saying about the coil near the control box. I put it there to do the video. It didn't make any difference to what it was doing because the tone stayed the same when I ran the scoop over coil. It should have changed no matter if the control box was there or not. I will let you know what they come up with this time. Thanks!!!

Thats a joke man...I cant beleive after all the past issues you have had that they would send out a 3rd xcall and not test it first..:roll:On a lighter note man you look exactly like a lighter version of Todd Hoffman...:laughing:Good luck working this out

If the Minelab " Blues" are so good why do you need two of them ? You can bring one to Connecticut and I'll buy it from you, than I'll have one that's indestructible and your trip will be paid for.

At this point if i were ML.... id send someone on vacation to get it right. No ML dealers on the island? If there was ML should have him resolve it by getting you one that WORKS then pay him for his trouble.

Even the Blues have trouble Earl.... remember my bad coil cable casing recently? Bottom line is if you use ANY machine in the salt water expect repairs or you arent living in the real world. HOWEVER..... it would be nice to get one that works from the get go wouldnt it? I had a repair kind of like that.... got it back and it didnt even turn on right out of the box.

If Minelab were on the ball they would take the technology of the discontinued Sovereign GT, change the configuration, make it completely waterproof and market it as a NEW model.

It's a proven winner, built like a tank and a gold magnet. I think they would fly off the shelf.....unfortunately they would probably triple the price.

Frank you know they would if they were company owners who metal detected like we do, then I'm sure they would feel what we see. To them it is a business.

That is weird man. What a bummer. From what I could see, your machine should have sounded off.

And, even though the coil was close to the machine, it would still sound off for the scoop.

My only question is about the volume. I just got one in the mail the other day and was in a complete panic. It did the same thing as yours...until I turned the volume up. Yours looked like it was up. Was it maxed out?

This is more of a question for minelab...but were the other machines bench tested by them to find a problem?

I am going out on a limb here. Its an assembly problem. I have seen it happen in a shop before. Some meatball has one task to do 500 or 1000 times...and does everyone of them backwards or wrong.

OBN more then likely correct. The coils not wired right. It would be nice for them to verify that. There is quite possibly a large batch of junk EIIs out there.

Very sorry for your getting 3 lemons in a row. I had one band new in 2010. It treated me well with no problems the whole time I had it. The one I just got, which was brand new in aug 2013, works fine too.

If they want to send you another, tell them make it two for your trouble [8" an 10 "] and demand that there verified to function properly. If they say its already done, demand it be un-boxed and done again. Because...3 lemons in a row...is complete BS.

Well Guess what just got back from the Beach went to try out my Third Excalibur 2 It worked for 2 minutes.. Then All it dose is HUMMMM. No matter what I did to it!!1 Had a bad time!!! It dose not work Check out the video.. that I just posted on the Minelab site on Face Book.. If they take it off I will post it on YouTube    https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?...298675&type=2&theater&notif_t=video_processed

Hey I just did the same thing with my blue Excal 1000 that outlawdetector did with his new Excal.
I placed the control box next to the coil. I even had a belt with a buckle in the same place he had his in the video.
At first I had it set with standard settings disc, vol@max, threshold audible,sens@ 1:00 or #5 on the green Excals, discrimination @ 3.
I even maxed the threshold and still got it to respond to my sand scoop swinging over the coil.
I find it unusual to have the same results with 3 new machines that were manufactured with different frequencies for different countries. It would seem to me that Minelab got a batch of defective coils or circuit boards.

Frank/Dew

Frank one is a 800 , and one is a 1000 , I had a Blue 1000 before and missed it , I sold it in a combo deal, the guy wanted both F75 standard and the 1000 -1400.00, Dew like I said before , anytime you get a used machine, you take a gamble, the guy probably used it in salt water , didn't flush with fresh water, never applied silicone to the wires, I never had a Blue problem except the blue phones on the 800 , that's it, better knob posts, better coils, not Malaysian, made green garbage, Outlaw is 100% correct, and let me tell you Minelab is only interested in raising prices, and sales, just look at the CTX, I would bet they are still getting shipped out with the lame rubber gasket today

If the pod not moving.... much like using a stainless bolt.... it wont be affected. Most interference comes from the coil.

I hope its good news. Get frustrating..... believe me i know. I think a lot of our problems are like Joe said.... ML was a bit more company oriented.... then got bought out, moved their production for cheap labor (and possibly parts), and raised the prices at least 2 times since. Improvements..... NADA. But.... dont blame them, not a lot of improvements from fisher or whites either.
