Decided it was time to venture off to a new elementary school. Was not disappointed.
Day 1: 64 coins, 42 of which were pennies. Dollar coin #7, junk bracelet parts were found together.

Day 2: 74 coins, 43 of which were pennies. Had by far the best tot lot hunt I've ever done albeit most finds were pennies. The blob of foil mostly came out of the tot lot but I did dig up some ketchup packets and folded up pieces of foil in the turf as well. Iron stuff came from tot lot. Key and Chuck E Cheese token came from the tot lot as well as my first Susan B! Dollar coin #8! Mood ring came from the turf. Dug my first knife in the turf as well. Although technically speaking it's just a handle... the blade is snapped at the base. Looks like it was a pretty nice knife too.

What I'm hoping is my best find of the day was found accidentally. I've been using the pinpoint function a lot here because most of the coins are no deeper than two or three inches and it makes it much easier to just scoop out the coin with one go of the Saber Tooth. I was doing this on a penny hit that I was pretty sure was on the surface. Pinpointed and dug and got nothing... Detected again and found I was off by an inch or two and sure enough just barely below the dead grass layer was a crusty zinc. As I was putting my plug back in I saw the cross sticking in a clump of dirt where I had started the plug... I thought maybe it was stamped piece of glitter because when I had scanned the area after pulling the penny I had gotten nothing. But when I pulled it out it I saw the loop and was stoked! I was about to stomp it back into the ground ! When I got home I tested it by basically touching it to my coil and it rings up between foil and nickel every time. There are no markings I can see but it's pretty detailed and the loop is not crimped.
What do you guys think? Real gold? If so, guess of the carat?
Happy Hunting!
