Today’s CZ-21 Outing – UTTER FAILURE!!!

Felix

I know the feeling, my Excal is acting up, and I am relagated to my ACE 250.

Just thinking out loud with ya here...

It looks like the two 9V are wired parallel, so, just maybe...

You could take a Plano waterproof box, set it up for 6 AA, you would have 9V again, at 1/3 the cost of 9V, and double the battery life.. With just a little more weight, but you might be able to place the new box in a way to balance the machine better, in the end, it might even "feel" lighter...??

Besides smoke detectors, I don't get why anything else would use 9V batteries...

You're telling me something like this might work? Because if that fits in the compartment I'm going that route!

Actually, it's four 9 volt batteries, but I do think they are wired in parallel, so still 9 volts, but last longer because there are four of them. Battery life will depend on the mAh rating. Good alternative Ice!

You can buy AA batteries at the right time of year at the major home improvement store for 10 cents each in packs of 48. They last just as long in my Ace that takes 4 of them. I can hunt 3 days before they go down to 2 bars when I replace them. It costs me 13 cents a day to operate. I know you may need more and your machine might draw more current but I would consider it.

After a couple PMs with Felix I learned it took four of em..

Just guessing but the battery life might be about 15% less..

But using these...

It will cost you about $1.38 for 6 AA...

VS..

$5.99 for 4 of these...

I should be getting the 6AA to 9V holder by this Friday. Once I test it out I will be posting my findings on a new thread. I want to thank Ice for his "tech support" in the PM's that we had. :waytogo:

I've been using these for 2 years now without a hitch.http://www.lowes.com/pd_318749-1163...&pl=1&currentURL=?Ntt=9v+batteries&facetInfo= A $1.00 each isn't bad.

I use Tenergy 200 mAh Rechargeables. These can last up to about 16-20 hours.

You can also get the Tenergy 250 mAh that can last up to 20-25 hours.

Several of us with CZs have noticed a drop in sensitivity after about 10-12 hours on a set of batteries. Regardless if I buy alkalines or NiMH, 200 or 250 mAh, I've had similar results. I bought the 200 mAh 8-pack so I always have a fresh set ready to go.

From looking at the second picture down....the O-ring is installed incorrectly.
The higher ridge goes into the groove on the battery door but this photo shows the opposite.
Not sure if the OP mentions this or not but yes it is an easy mistake to make !

And dat my friends is a good example of why I prefer the xcal battery. You have batteries and if u use pricy rechargables, gasket, 9v plug, and the holder. From the wire nut its happened before. Could be $100 mistake. Then you get paranoid and takes awhile to trust it again. Thanks for showing it..... it happens... but man I feel for you sorry about your loss.
Man, this is an OLD post.

Real old post, why don't you introduce yourself to the forum? I love to hear about your hunting down under!

It is an old post.

But to correct some information. The output of the CZ-21 battery holder is 18v; 2 sets of parallel 9vs in series. So I am quite sure that the AA holder that Felix wanted to use did not work.
