No worries Aquaman, I'm a lady but I need the hubby's permission too. I sneak out during the week when the kiddos are at school for a little bit. When the spouse has no interest in the hobby, you're going to need the permission.
If I was going to the gym, do you think I would need to ask permission? I don't think so.

I'm with SageGrouse. Loved that post. Of course, I didn't really learn my lesson until wife 2.0. For the most part, going out is not an issue. If it begins to conflict with getting other important things done (or spending time with the family), there's some tension. And I confess that I can be obsessive about things, so it's one thing to go out for "a little while" and come back in 90 minutes, but it's another thing to come back 5 hours later. But 90%+ of the time she is absolutely supportive and happy to see me enjoying this hobby. At least at the beach she & my daughter can go out shelling while I swing away!

I wish we were as good as some have stated. My friends and I call it a kitchen pass. Sadly, there is often conflict. I did suggest a new plan. I do what I want and she should do what she wants.She is going to Jamaca next week with her girl friends, so she really cant say much. I will fill my week with detecting. She really doesnt get the detecting thing. Wouldnt do it for all the tea in china. I try to do more than my share around the house. That helps.

No problem here. I go about four times a week. She has two detectors and
has been out twice and found clad each time. She says that she will get back
to it sometime. Being married 51 years helps I guess.

My wife get more upset for some reason when i tell her when ill be back. I also have to read her..... you can tell when shes getting moody. Thats not good..... i really like my stuff, id hate to give her the house and me get just the detectors.
