The New Garrett "APEX" Metal Detector

I am very pleased to see Garrett release new tech. I was hoping that they would do so.
Curious now as to the performance of the Apex and comparisons of it's capabilities with other detectors. Hope to see some demonstrations soon.

Even with the update the Nox is not strong for coins on edge. I have tested it with and without the update. I've tested it in dirt and beach sand, it's just not a strong point of the Nox. There are other detectors that will out perform a Nox re coins on edge. Nox works well on the beach as it has increased my gold ring finds.

I was referring to UK/EU hammered coinage which are much smaller and lower conductive, not your high conducting US milled coins.
Personally if I was only after milled coins I'd probably use a different detector from the Nox

Curious. Do you really think he has a connection to Garrett?
John is absolutely a Garrett partner. Like others have said he doesn't bash other companies and he is respectful so there really isn't an issue. He is no different than some of the other brand partners like Dr Tones for minelab for example. Garrett is a good company and if they wanted to partner up with me I would be happy to endorse them and use their equipment exclusively as well. They have very capable machines. I would do the same for minelab. I personally prefer the equinox over anything Garrett has to offer right now so I am happy to be using it almost exclusively. I do test and use other brands as well and I enjoy doing that as well.

I have no problem with someone speaking highly of a certain brand of detector, whichever brand it may be. We all have our favorites for a number of reasons.
What I don't particularly like is a post similar to a recent one from CoinBoy which provided a link to his video entitled "Ten Reasons NOT To Buy An AT Pro".
No one should be bashing a company's product. We all have reasons to not like a certain detector but there's no need to bash it or the company that produces it.

I haven't seen the Coinboy video. So I don't know if he's "bashing". But that is subjective. I personally like reviews like this. ON ANY PRODUCT. If someone has honest , truthful information bad or good , I want to know to make an informed decision. This guy may have a "top 10 reasons to buy the A/T pro" video too. No different than buying a car , electronics , etc. I'm just glad Consumer Reports isn't reviewing detectors for the ultra masses.

Coinboy is Calabash in disguise. If everyone could take their favorite features from every detector they used to create their perfect detector that would be cool. That's not realistic though. Lots of people bashing the Apex because it doesn't compete with the Nox. It's obvious Garrett didn't create the Apex to compete with the Nox. Before the release of the Apex most were complaining it would be a redressed ACE detector. Turns out it's an ACE in name only. Now they're complaining it isn't a Nox. LOL. Everyone complained Garrett hadn't debuted anything new, then they do and people still complain.

Now that Garrett has entered the Multi Frequency world, there's so many options for them to install in their next detector. People are complaining Garrett didn't release a flagship model. Garrett chose to not go in reverse like Minelab from Nox to Vanquish but move forward.

Who is next ? Nokta is working on Multi Frequency. Whites has a patent for new technology that combines VLF and PI. It won't matter. Someone will complain that it doesn't do X or doesn't have X. At the end of the day, it's about location and how well you know your detector.

Well said.

If this is true, and I still don't know if it is, he should make it known.

Just like any others connected with other companies.

I also heard the Deus was not good at hitting deep coins on edge? The Apex might just surprise people and be as good as the Nox you never know.

If the "Apex PRO" is better than the Equinox for my detecting, I'll defo buy one.
There's countries i wouldn't buy a detector from for certain reasons, the US isn't one of them.

In case you were unaware, Coinboy is just a kid.
We need to help him and guide him.
Be patient with him.
Like you would want someone to treat your son when he's being a knucklehead.
We've all been there.

.....What I don't particularly like is a post similar to a recent one from CoinBoy which provided a link to his video entitled "Ten Reasons NOT To Buy An AT Pro"...........

Coinboy is Calabash in disguise. ...........

I think it's just as bad to criticize a forum member by name in a discussion thread they aren't participating in and may not see to address it.

"Ten Reasons Not To Buy ANY Detector" is bashing, whether it's an AT Pro or anything else. I hardly think the same person would make a "10 reasons to buy a detector" after making a video that listed 10 reasons NOT to buy it.

Do you know what you are talking about ? That's right , you don't. THE KOB will give you a pass on this one. It's ok. You're not informed. I to have been ignorant before. THE KOB will shed some light !

If you go on YouTube , you should find some. Definitely a Google search will yield many guys , publications , reviews , etc that will do both positive and negative reviews on products. If you can't find any , your not searching hard enough. They are there , I won't do the work for you. Called the "top whatever". The pros and cons. If you want to call it "bashing" fine. I call it a negative , and I want to know what those are to make an educated decision before I purchase. Just like I want to know the positives that perked my interest to begin with.

Example : if I mainly hunt saltwater beaches and the machine is not listed as being "waterproof" , well guess what ? That would be a negative or bashing to me. I would not even consider that detector around ANY water. And if I were to purchase that detector and something goes wrong with it in the water ? Then I would be STUPID. Because I knew full well in advance , that could be a possibility.

Obviously by the fact that you refer to yourself as "THE KOB" you have an inflated ego.....I will call any video that lists ten reasons not to buy a particular detector a form of bashing. You can list some negatives because all detectors have one or two that someone may not like. That's different. And by the way, I don't need you to "Give me a pass" on anything. You mention videos that give both positive and negative reviews...yes, that's correct but they're in the same review, as opposed to strictly a 10 point list of why NOT to buy. So, maybe you misread or misinterpreted what I was getting at. Maybe it's you who needs a pass. Remember..... this is supposed to be the "Friendly Forum" so your insults are out of line.

Man some folks in here need to lighten up. We are talking about hobby metal detectors folks. This is not politics or national security we are dealing with. Most of what has been said should be taken in jest or very lightly at least. This is the internet don't let it ruin your day.

Hahaha ! Very true. I think many are going crazy from this virus lockdown. They can't get out and detect , which should be a major stress reliever. I haven't stopped ! Hunting 2,3 times a week. But I understand some places people can't hunt anywhere. That will change soon. HH all...

any idea when the Chinese will start their run of the Apex's? -
