Nice finds Left. By the way, I am reading a book on drug use by the Third Reich and the majority of the book concentrates on stimulant use. The specific drug is called Pervitin. I was wondering if you ever find any evidence of stimulant pills being found among the personal belongings?

I know it's been over 70 years but maybe if in a container, they could still be there. Millions were distributed to the troops.

The book is called

Someone earlier in the post said they were jealous of the European detectors. While I understand and even share that sentiment to an extent, this post is pretty powerful in how it humanizes the soldiers that are sometimes easier to refer to as "the enemy". For everyone of those helmets there was a family back home waiting for their son. Like a museum attached to a hobby we all enjoy. Thank you so much for continuing to share.

In german positions we can find a lot of interesting stuff like medical stuff. Tooth paste, desinfectant for chemical weapons and other stuff.
That kind of stuff is very dangerous.

As mother always told me - dont touch unknown items.

Tapferkeits - und Verdienstauszeichnung für Angehörige der Ostvölker
Ostvolk Medal

The Ostvolk Medal ( Ostvolkmedaille) or Medal for Gallantry and Merit for Members of the Eastern Peoples ( Tapferkeits und Verdienst Auszeichnung für Ostvölker) was a military and paramilitary award in Nazi Germany, bestowed to personnel from the former Soviet Union (Ostvolk in German, literally "the Eastern people").

The medal featured an octactinal (eight pointed) star with plant pattern in the centre. The 1st class was 48 mm in diameter, attachable to the cloth by pin and clasp. The 2nd class was 40 mm in diameter and was worn on a 32 mm wide ribbon. The award had two classes:

1st Class - in gold or silver
2nd Class - in gold, silver or bronze
There were two versions: with swords, for bravery, and without, for merit.

Green with two red stripes (2nd class in gold)
Green with two white stripes (2nd class in silver)
Green (2nd class in bronze)
