The bank nixes Tumbling.

I use coinstar in my local credit union and because I am a member there I am not charged. I just take my printout from coinstar on how much change I put in and they will deposit that into my account or give me cash. It is my option on what to do. It is nice this way. Thanks

shoot my banks great i have been taking my change right to the teller an they take it with out a problem theres even coins that are half missing an deteriated an they still take em with out a problem at sovrighn

The last time I took rolled coins to the bank branch in the supermarket the teller told me she'd take them this time, however next time take them to the main branch (close by) and use the coin counter in the lobby. I don't know if the counter will take the tarnished coins or not, anybody know?

Only one way to know!

Coinstar & restaurant.com(http://www.restaurant.com/) have a promotion going.

$10 in gets you a $25 e-cert.

================
For every $10 in coins cashed in, consumers will receive a $25 certificate at Restaurant.com. Simply choose "Free Coin Counting" on the Coinstar kiosk and a screen will appear with the Restaurant.com certificate option. When the process is complete and the Restaurant.com choice is selected, the printed receipt will have a unique code to redeem at http://Coinstar.Restaurant.com, allowing consumers to save at over 18,000 restaurants nationwide.

Rollem

i rolled 20 bucks in cleaned Quarters and 5 in dimes :yes:the pizza driver got the rolls tonight :lol:,i gave him a 4 buck tip to keep quit :lol:

I took in $40 worth of clad today and the bank said that this was the last time. They told me that the government considers them mutilated and will not except them. The counter will count them with no problem but they do not shine like they are supposed to. It looks like coin star for me.

Possible bully alert on the banks part:

Mutilated coin is coin that has been bent or twisted out of shape, punched, clipped, plugged, fused, or defaced, but that can be identified as to genuineness and denomination. Mutilated coin is not redeemable at face value; it is redeemable only at its bullion (metal) value as established by the Director of the U.S. Mint.

I do not see discolored due to weathering but I guess they can refuse any transactions they want for any reason they deem appropriate regardless of it being a good reason. Banks irritate me sometimes. :roll:

I just tried to take some washed change to the bank. They refused to take it. I then brought it to a coinstar... 10.9% fee!

Unbelievable!

Why? It's legal tender. :?:

That's what I said, too. They said they couldn't give it to their customers and would have to have thousands to be able to turn it in. I'm guessing they'd turn it away if I showed up with a truckload, too. I even wrapped most of it b4 going in.

The Federal Reserve DOES NOT accept deposits of mutilated coin. Mutilated coin should be forwarded via 'Registered Mail, Return Receipt Requested' to the address below with documentation of the circumstances:

United States Mint
Independence Mall
P.O. Box 400
Philadelphia, PA 19105

My copper pennies that I can not take to the bank and I am not allowed to scrap are now worth scrap price. Which is more than face value and I don't have to clean them.:cool:

Guess if we can trash banks, it's all right to say wal-mart is parasite on the U.S. economy. :shock:
Wouldn't step in one.

I quote myself...

"I hope you don't think all the money you saved shopping at walmart will ever buy your way out of hell for shopping there!!"

<*)))>{

Sounds like another lazy ass bank teller tbh.. If the government doesn't except them then she what, just giving away money to do it this one last time? On to the next bank I guess

Don't you just love it when "Zombie Threads" come to life?!? :roll:;)
