Sounds like they might have gotten off light. Maybe the punishment should be to clean up hunting areas for you. It would be fitting that they had to clear weeds and brush, and watch you get the goodies.

Sir, you were caught trespassing so as punishment, you will be required to walk in front of this man as he detects in the woods. Your job is to kick over any downed logs that may have yellow jacket hives underneath. You will also be required to cut back overgrowth so the OP can get in there with a sniper coil, during the times you are not being stung by aforementioned yellow jackets.
