Since quite a few of you PM me about my cell phone sales I want to share a sale that I had this week. One of the recent iPhones that I had found was in pretty bad shape. I believe it had been down for a while and was already compromised when I had a difficult recovery on it and mangled it some more with my scoop. I had nothing to lose so I decided to put it up for sale anyway. It quickly got the $25 starting bid. Before shockingly selling for $51, it had 15 bids from 9 different bidders. Needless to say, I learned something new here.

Here is my description for the eBay sale:
Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max - "AS IS FOR PARTS" - Ocean Recovered
This Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max was found metal detecting in the ocean. The phone is damaged and does not turn on or show any signs of life. (See pictures) This phone is being sold "AS IS FOR PARTS" and returns will not be accepted. Please examine all pictures carefully and ask any questions before bidding. Shipping to ConUSA is included in bid.

Good to know. If I find old cell-phones that are THAT hosed, I would probably throw them in the trash. Interesting to know they have parts-value demand on Ebay.

I got $35 for one that was missing the back cover exposing all the toasted parts. The front screen was a mess. It was a phone I would have normally trashed but was making a run to the ECO ATM anyways and thought I'd give it a try. Now I put every phone in , no matter what it looks like. Sometimes it's $$$ , other times they recycle it.

If I can make a nickel on something that I find detecting I will. It all pays for my detecting equipment & repairs, my watch hobby, hiking gear and my treks in Spain.

Good for you Felix... I throw the phones I find in the trash... in all the years I have been beach hunting, I have found 2 phones...

I have a stack of them. The EcoATM Kiosk asks too many questions. Hate to have to start using feebay again.

Does getting the SIM card and putting it in a working phone do anything?
Theoretically you could get the phone number as long as that sim card still functions and is active...

I can think of a dozen reasons not to do this though. It's like opening the door for all of the potential
malware, spyware, and other naughty bits the previous phone owner may have been infected with or
if they were a phracker themselves, put there intentionally.

Don’t get me started on this rant.I’ve gotten into trouble on eBay with this someone buys phone and then starts asking questions that should of been asked before bidding, is this your phone ,where did you get ,it what’s the Emei # and so on ,end up returning payment and feeling like I committed a crime .no longer deal with them.all they say is phone is blacklisted.

You find a lot of phones and look at some images on them a few can scare the carp out of you. I took a hammer to one that had pics of stacks of cash, weapons and drugs. Of course another one had pics of some woman naked standing on a couch and a guy taking pictures of his own junk in the shower.
