They’re unrelated but I can’t ID either. Normally the bullet would just go in the reject pile but I’ve never seen one with a tiny hole in the bottom like that, and the amount of lead corrosion makes me think it’s old. I’m gonna guesstimate .44 cal. The piece of brass just looks interesting, had to go to something? Thanks for looking!

Occasionally there is not enough lead poured into the bullet mold and a "hole" is produced. From the age of those finds, I would seriously work that place if I were you. It shows the possibility of more good finds.

Is it possible the bullet was a "cleaner" round with the trailing non-lead piece missing? I have a couple that were in a bunch of bullets I bought that someone on this site dug up in Petersburg, VA (I think, it could have been Richmond).

I think the Williams cleaner rounds were much larger caliber for rifles. This is probably a pistol bullet if I was gonna guess.

I had a quick look on image searches, but couldn't find anything like that star. The odd thing is the one area that tapers out, but is flat at the end. Does that end part look like another part was broken off of it?
