How is everyone storing and displaying their finds? I’m looking for ideas on storage if most finds, and display if the best ones. Any ideas/photos of how you manage it would be great!

I use an old press sorting tray

I had a table built using some old printer press typeset drawers from the 1800s. they sit under a glass top. Just got it so I have not got a chance to fill it up with finds yet. If I remember I will take a pic. Will look terrible because I used some recycled glass for the top that I thought I could clean up, but something has reacted with the tin layer on the glass and made it hazy. I have to get new pieces.

Also if you are a baller, buy yourself a set of those glass topped drawers that architects and such use for maps and drawings. Way outta my price range though.

awilson, welcome to the hobby and forum. Where you from ? As far as displays go I started with a small display box on my desk. You'll be surprised how fast the cool finds add up. I added a shadow box for more relic type finds on my back porch and just last year my son bought me an antique display case from an old hardware store for fathers day. Keep in mind how much, or how big of a display can depend on how tolerant the wife is. Just cause we view things as treasures doesn't necessarily mean everybody else does. Good luck and good hunting. Mark

I pretty much have a low book shelf that has all of my good finds on top. But for examples of my best coins and buttons I use these capsule displays. I take the glass doors off the fronts and each coin gets it's own capsule. Amazon has them in a bunch of sizes. I prop them up against the wall behind the book shelf. Ill try to remember to snap a picture later.

Hi Mark! Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm excited to be part of the hobby. I'm from the Boston Metrowest area. I like the idea of a shadowbox. That display case is absolutely awesome! I'm not sure my fiancee would agree, but if I ever have the opportunity to get one, maybe we'll discuss at that point LOL

I really like that box! That's a great idea

I use old blueprint cabinets. The depth of the drawers Is only like an inch or two deep . But that works for most all the stuff we find.

These are available for cheap on the used market, since computerization and digital has negated the need for long term storage of physical paper blueprints like these, over the previous decades.

I do need to reorganize some of my stuff. I got my hands on a couple of nice standup wood & glass displays I use in my living room to display my relics, but a lot is still sitting in a foot locker.

Each of these sandstone carvings were done from a piece of sandstone from the actual site.

cheap is a relative term for those....like cheap compared to new yes. But I have not seen any under 1000$ in my entire state

Tom/TP - I love the idea of the blueprint cabinets as well. I just checked FB Marketplace and there are a number of them for sale around me hovering at the $400/$500 mark so it could be an option once the collection grows a bit

You could get 1 of these boxes for small items. They come in different sizes. This is a 9x9 that cost me $10 a few years ago. BTW : I never display the good stuff. You can't trust the wife , let alone your own mother...lol

A lot will depend on available space, the style/decor of your home, and how your other half feels about such a display.

I decided I would like a small class cabinet just to hold the more interesting and better condition of my Finds. I was lucky to be given a cabinet for free and I just added an extra shelf plus some concealed remote controlled variable brightness LEDs which I h put together myself for the project...

I'm greatly impressed with everyone's displays. I'm more of a coin/jewelry hunter. If I lived in a place that had a lot of CW or RW relics you can bet I would have big display. Right now all I have is a treasure chest I put things I feel I want to keep. There is another display I started at our local historical museum.

Wow, I had better get busy and find some great stuff!
Until I do I just use a treasure chest I found at Hobby Lobby

It's about 6" wide. Holds my rings, good coins, and several little relics.

Donating/displaying local historical finds at the local museum is a great way to share your finds. I have so much stuff sitting in my footlocker benefitting no one. I have donated some to both the Boot Hill Musume and a local race car Musume. The car museum has a section dedicated to the cycle track I located out east of town with some of my finds on display.
