Stimulus Check = New Detector?

I am taking it day by day.. Who knows what's in store.. Detecting does add some normality..

I recently bought a new detector back in September, so if anything I might just buy a new coil for it. The rest will probably just get saved for now. Unless my wife has her way and gets a new car.

Trying to decide if I want that one or the 6” coil myself lol.

I have the 6”, is super tiny! Need patience... I hope to use it on curb strips when I grow a pair, but have only used it a few times. I like having it, but so far very little use. I fear the 15” will make swinging the Nox less fun, but figure the coverage and bit more depth would be nice.

"Only individuals whose annual adjusted gross income exceeds $99,000 will not get a payment"

Does this pi$$ anyone else off. I'm fortunate to be working, but I'm not sure why I should be paying for the people sitting at home. Who decided on the $99,000 mark?

Also, I wonder if people are ordering their Trump detectors on their Obama phones? :cool3:

There's some irony there I think.

Seriously you think you paid for my S.S. I've paid into it for the last fifty years. And also if you make over the $99,000 and still working the $1,200 would be chump change to you. We would get by without it,but there’s a lot of people that don't make the above average pay, that don't have jobs right now. They can use it to try to say afloat.

Was thinking about my post later last night and told my wife that someone would reply just as you did. I do not begrudge you drawing SS, and never said I did, so just unwind the knickers just a bit. And regardless of whether $1200 is chump change to anyone or not, doesn't really change the basic arguement of fairness anyway. Besides the $1200 is not a SS payment, it's a payment to help those who are struggling during these unprecedented times and (I stress AND) it's money to help stimulate the economy. In fact, why should someone who is drawing SS need this payment (since they are still being paid) unless it's to help stimulate the economy.

Here's another point, I am 65 and could be drawing SS but I choose to work because I love my job and the people I work with plus my employer seems to value my contribution to the company. Plus I think I bring some wisdom and knowledge to the younger folks there. Also, I suffer from chronic neck pain (which has kept me from detecting the last 2 years), so I'm sure I could be on SS Disability, since by about 1:00 p.m. I can't even sit at my desk, but I choose to work through the pain.

I also own another business which my youngest son operates because I can't be there because of the neck pain. That business is currently closed with all the emploees furloughed until the corona virus passes. Those employees are collecting unemployment and hopefully will get there stimulus checks also. Meanwhile our fixed expenses go on. That's where my $1200 would go.

Listen, I am not complaining because anyone is getting whatever payment is due them, I'm just not sure about the fairness of putting a limit on the income. And I'll add one more rant, if you are drawing disability and you are really able to work (and you know who you are), get off your a$$ and get to work when this is all over.

Peace be with you and happy Palm Sunday.

KT already plans to spend His Gov't stimulus check on silver halves, if and when He finds reasonable sellers. Interesting that in all this upheaval and disruption of schedules, PM prices have not responded much, either + or - . :?::?:

That's one way to stimulate the economy!

Well thought out and posited 'rant' CFL!...Never before in our Lifetime has the dotguv considered giving us any money, up until now, it was tough tiddleywinks for us during our Life trying to survive the 10yr cycle of downturns..Yeah...I will believe it when I see it in my hand...

...Old busted up B'tards like us gotta once again step up to save the World?...I think yeah, for the youngers who have never gone through any kind of hardships....losing it all and starting all over again? We set the example if nothing else. We got the experience several times over, and can set the example of how to survive..

Making that much money must be nice.

I know many folks who make well over 100k a year, but give them 3 months without salary and they are more broke than other friends who only make 50k a year but live more modestly.
Many folks are about to learn that lesson in a very hard way...

Based on "official" standards our income level is likely considered "lower middle class" at best and maybe even lower than that, but having learned to live modestly, shopping for things on sale, using coupons, ect. we are doing pretty good and can't complain. We watched the price of the house we bought years ago go way down over the course of a year since it was owned by a bank and they were anxious to unload it, we got a manufactured home (only about 5 years old at the time) about 2200 sq ft, 4 bedrooms, 2 baths, and 1 1/2 acres of ground included for somewhere about $35-$38K and we had enough left over after selling our old house to pay off what we owed on that and buy this one outright so we never had even one mortgage payment (thank God for that blessing !). We do occasionally buy a non-essential item but we watch for really good sales. We pay off our credit cards every month so never pay any interest charges, and actually make money from the reward points ! We can even afford to buy a new car because we have managed our money wisely and stay within our means.

I have read stories in the news about people winning millions in a sweepstakes or lottery only to be broke a few years later likely because they wanted to live like a millionaire rather than living a normal lifestyle where their money would have easily lasted.

Thats why I tell my kids to get a union job.

Sorry, but I've never worked union and never will. Always treated my employees right so they never felt the need. There was a time for unions, but they, and the super rich have killed American industry. JMO
