Stealth 720 "holes" question

I would go with the 1/4 inch holes in the rear. But both if mines are all 1/2 inch. Can't beat the warranty. they have paid for themselves multiple times over and over.

That's what I'm thinking, might as well get a better sift at the rear and let the 1/2" holes in the side do the draining. The warranty seems great, and I have read no bad feedback on the company or product at all. Looks like I'll be at $243 + or - when it's all said and done.

It's a lot for a scoop, but I want to buy once and be done.

Sonny, you should tell us where you plan on hunting. The Stealth scoops are great, but some places (like NE Fl) have shell beaches that would definately support the use of larger holes. Other sugar-sand beaches are perfect for the small holes.

I suppose the hybrid isn't a bad idea and if it didn't work, you could drill them out.....but that would be a lot of work. -$0.02

About to pull the trigger on a good scoop (720i tube), wondering about this:

Seems like the option with the 1/4 holes in the rear would be the way to go, no?

Smaller holes on the bottom and rear are the way to go.Before i got this i would go nuts tryin to find them small targets that fall through my other Stealth...You can see the difference clearly in the pics...GL

Here in NW Fl we have some areas that are really bad about crushed shells - for lack of a better term - under the sand. On those beaches I am glad I have the 1/2 inch holes. The only time I even remotely wish I had smaller holes is when I get a tiny target like an earring or earring back that I have to chase. At that point I have a smaller scoop I devised and I just isolate the target and use the smaller scoop...

And don't forget to put at least one magnet in your scoop...

I bought a 720i tube 1/2 holes a couple of months back and I love it very solid. I chose 1/2 holes because I wet sand hunt and use it more as a excavator. if you plan on water hunting I would get the 1/4 holes either way its a darn good scoop!

Hunting OC with that scoop should be good, If you can pull the thing out...full, now in the surf it will rock because you can shake it before to lighten the load. Should be perfect for hitting those deeps ones in the OC soft sand. It would be to much for me, I'm a old goat..

depends

Were you are U at, I use 8 wide Stealth's, with the 20 degree in the handle, I talked Chuck into making the Sugarsand scoop, great scoop , sift's good in water around here , out of the water not as good unless your in Florida with sugarsand beaches , it does catch all the studs , mine are the 1st that came out, but I will say the 1/2 inch hole scoop get's the most action, I would say go with the 1/2 & 1/4 inch , keep in mind that that model is a 90 degree scoop, Chuck is not producing the hybrid 20 degree handles anymore, Great Scoops, Chuck does it wright, happy hunting, Earl

I got to make a bent handle like yours, the extra wide foot kicker is also a great idea.

Robby, I really like your magnet setup, where did you get those?

They are overhead door alarm contact magnets. They aren't super strong - hence the three - but they work OK. There are way better magnets out there. Look at either rare earth or computer hard drive magnets...

Something like this might work, take the magnet out of the steel cup if possible and tie wrap it into your scoop...

Chuck stopped production on the hybrid handles with the carbon fiber inserts at the bend, they cost to much to make, maybe you could talk him into making a few more better yet, how bought some carbon fiber 20 degree handles, even though that will probably be impossible , I am still wanting him to make a 820i , I like 8 wide scoops, as for the foot pads, I need to cut 2 inches off, they are over 9 inches long, bolt wright on to the existing foot pad, 3/16 aluminum , I picked them up cut at the local metal plant, they sell scrap, I think I paid 8.00 for all three, the 9 inch work good at the surf line, scoop your target tilt your scoop on the pad, like a wheeley instant wash out when the water goes back out, but with the 9 inch , dry sand is a couple inches to long with holes deeper than 2 scoops, so before to long I will cut 1 1/2 to 2 inches off the length, if you notice I also fiber glass wrapped and epoxied, and taped were the bend is, just to make it even stronger, happy hunting Earl
