The manufacturing jeweler here appraised it for R140,000.00 , which is roughly equal to $13,000 USD

I bet that ring would be worth a lot more in the states. My 18K gold ring appraised for 14 grand and you have platinum and what looks like a larger center stone. SWEET find. How big is your center stone?

I am no jeweler but it usually is 10k per carrot,,,,,BUT, that is for a average stone,,,,the cut of that stone along with the Plat setting tells me it is above average quality,,,,,did he say how large it was? looks like 2 carrot to me,,,I think he was a little conservative on the appraisal,,,,that lady has to be stil crying loosing that one,,,GL HH
