Bragging like he did causes lots of morons to rush out and buy a detector thinking they are going to make it rich right off the bat. It will even make people inland rush out and buy one if they see someone showing off a handful of gold finds. So then you have newbie morons who haven't bothered to research the right way to detect who will then go out and destroy public areas leaving holes & sneaking onto private land. Then it gives us all a bad name and causes bad feelings towards MD'ers which can cause places to become closed to detecting. A lot of people already think we are scum. I run into that alot with the reaction I get from people who see me out. Bragging on what we get doesn't help our image. People already think we are bums after that blasted American Digger program. Also telling the world the good hunting spots ruins it for every other dedicated detectorist who frequents that beach & now has 100 morons rushing out to the beach with their Bounty Hunters and causing trouble.

What ever you say. As you said the beaches are already flooded with people that want to report to the "world" where the gold rush is. It's OK with me, after 20 years, I am about done anyway. More(what's left) for you newcomers.
