Show us your big a** scoops!

Observations on the Stealth scoops:

PI JOE: look at the welds on that prototype...wow  Also, what is that black ring just above the kick plate? Taped up handle is nice.

Surf Master: I like that fact that you swapped out the plastic bracket on the kick plate for a stainless steel bracket. Did your plastic bracket break? I just got my Stealth scoop a couple days ago. It came with two plastic kick plate brackets. I assume either folks are tightening down the bracket too much on assembly and it breaks, thus the spare bracket or that's a failure point in the design, thus the spare bracket. Since you replaced yours with a metal bracket, I assume those brackets break at some point. Two sugars and one classic, you da man! Love the angled handles. I guess you like the lift assist handle way down by the basket? I haven't tried mine yet (detector arriving any day now), so I might be adjusting my lift handle after a few uses.

Also, my classic Stealth 8" did not come with 1/4" holes. I was told by Chuck the scoop sifts faster and works better without the 1/4" holes for 95% of the targets. What are your thoughts on that, and does that mean I'm going to be losing 5% of my targets like earrings etc.? I can only assume that is exactly what it means. Chuck said I could try it for 30 days and if I wasn't satisfied I could ship it back and he would refund my purchase price plus shipping AND an additional $20 for my trouble. Problem was the pics on the website showed 1/4" holes and the website descriptions stated 1/4" holes but Chuck said he hadn't had time to update his website. I guess he has changed the design. Thoughts on the 1/4" holes?

One shout out to Chuck and Sunspot...my scoop arrived in 3 days. That's quite a feat for shipping to Guam. Typical shipping times to Guam no matter what you order or how you ship it is from 7 to 10 business days all the way up to 6 weeks so super outstanding job by them on the shipping. The scoop is an absolute beast! HH & GL!

Yeah the scoop took a beating for seven years and over 1000 hrs of used. I lost one inch on the tip so Chuck just added a new tip. That black ring is made of rubber to protect my hand when it slides down. I also added on the wood handle black wraps that is used on the tennis racket handle for gripping....I've been using it for years.....

I made this one last Aug. 8"x8"x16". Drilled 1836 holes.:hammerin: I was told on this forum that it would break. Im sure I've dug close to 1000 holes with this and its still going strong, no cracks or repairs yet. I have noticed that the bucket will flex some with a full scoop in the sand as I'm prying it out, but no breakage so far. I've been asked if I would make any to sell. Well the cost would be way to much due to the amount of time involved, and any free time I have I'd rather be swinging and diggin. HH

I remember that thread.....Very nice scoop and big as hell!! :wow:

Here's mine......built by me for free......

ry%3D480

I beat on it, stand on it & generally don't treat it very well.
When I do break it, ( only twice in 18+ years ) I just take it to our local welding shop at a vocational school down at the high school & they weld it up for free. It gives the students work experience.............see ya yardhunter

here is the biggest scoop i ever used

2010 i got it from steve, he is the fellow who makes the magnum scoop - small square hole jobs i used for a few years.

this is a proto type and made from plain steel, so it rusts.
god was it ever big. i sent it to a fellow hunter in florida for more testing.
