This is a great thread! Nice variety of coins everyone is posting. It seems like 2 cent pieces generally hold up well. I wonder if the alloy makeup was better than other coins of the time?

I have found five of them - this is the best one I've found. The other side does have a little corrosion:
Nope, this was in the front yard of an 1800's home with two 90+ year old women living there.
Beautiful black rich soil.
Unfortunately, they sold (due to age) went to a nursing home, and the home has been torn down and DEVELOPED

Or perhaps they for some reason didn't see as much circulation, it was one of the shortest lived issues of U.S. coinage, 9 years. Also first coin with " IN GOD WE TRUST'.
