Finally FOund a Tootsie!

I found this on Monday afternoon, and didn't realize what I had. I was searching on an old home site located on the property of a textile factory. I've dug 12 or 14 matchbox cars (or imitations thereof) out of this spot and the yard next door over the past week. Most were cheap pieces of junk. Some were merely "carcasses."

But this one was in a wad of dirt. It looked a bit "squared off" to me, so I dropped in the "keeper junk" side of my nail apron. Just washed it off today, and here's how it turned out.

If anyone can help with a date / ID, I would appreciate it.

Sure looks like a Chevy El Camino, but not sure of the year. Look closely underneath and it should be imprinted into the metal. Here's a 1962 on eBay which is slightly different than yours judging by the front bumper and other characteristics. Yours looks like a newer model - late 60's to early 70's I'd say:

That's a nice grab - looks like El Camino's fetch a higher price than most...

This is a very cool thread so I just had to add my two cents

Not sure exactly how many of these are "Tootsies", but here are some of the toy cars I've found

I dug a signal and found a flat piece of metal. I couldn't tell what it was, so I worked it back and forth to get it out of the hole, only to discover that I broke the wing of what would have been an airplane in good condition. I believe that it was a Tootsietoy. All of these pictures look familiar to me. I'll bet that I've had a lot of them over the years. No telling where they are now.

I didn't realize that there were other Tootsie Toys other than cars!

As a boy, I had over a dozen Tootsie Toy cars and trucks. Most I have never seen since. I played hard with mine, and even tried blowing them up with firecrackers on the Fourth of July. (My Flat Bed Semi and Dump Trucks were hauling dynamite)I
Here is my latest find. I hadn't ever seen one like it before.
