Should I bury my silver hoard? $2200 worth

Claymores...

Keep everything on your dresser in plain view. Then just have trip wires with claymores set around your house.

The way things are going , you may be doing yourself a favor by selling the silver , then taking the money to stock up on food and supplies , etc. These may be worth more than silver or gold here shortly.

I totally agree with Bassgreg, a safe is the only way to go. My brother just got a 5 foot tall one for his silver and gold. The thing weighs a ton (so you should brace up the floor), it's bolted through the floor, waterproof, fireproof, and near impossible to move - for around $700.00. Excellent insurance for silver and gold.

lol, $700 investment for $2200 worth of silver.... Hmmm...

Nah... Its now only $1500 extra cash..... ;)

It goes against the grain to say this, but

As the USA Dollar goes down, the Kuwaiti Dinar keeps going up. In the last 18 months, I have seen the rate from 3.4 USD to 1 KWD up to 3.6 USD to 1 KWD.
I don't have a spare nickel right now, but if I did, I would think seriously about putting a few KWD away for the next rainy day.

Thanks,
John Morton

BTW - I wouldn't touch Iraqui Dinar with a 10 foot pole. I think that there is so many ID floating around that the Iraqui government will eventually just repudiate all that currently exist and start over with a clean slate.

Really? the Dinar is worth alot? I have quit a few 10000 Dinar notes with that dingbat on the front.... hehehe

Which Dingbat?

"Dinar" is the name of several ME countries currency. If you have Kuwaiti Dinars, they are the hardest currency in the world.

If you have Iraqui Dinars, I think you are gonna be S.O.L.

GPS unit + metal detector (maybe also a compass)

You could bury your cache, record the geographical coordinates with a GPS unit (and also triangulate the position with a compass), and using that GPS unit together with your metal detector find it with no problem.

If you wanted, you could even encrypt the geographical coordinates in a manner known only to you to prevent someone else from finding it.

Sheesh how did this get 51 replies? I still don't know what to with this silver. I might donate it to the ocean or something.

Why would you bury it ? Im trying not to be out of line here , but seems to me theres better things to do than sit around worrying about where you are gonna put your coin clollection  Dont sweat it , leave it where it is.

Still think cashing it in is a better option... Why would you keep it in that form? If its worth $2200, then get it... Its not making anything sitting there, Its found money. Cash it in and put it in a 2 year CD and forget about it.. In 2 years see if the rates went up and then do it over and over...

How's that?

Yeah, cash in all that silver, put the fiat US currency you get for it in some institution that also invests in worthless fiat currency. Print this page, file it away, and in 10 years pull it out and read it again. Be sure to have a box of tissues handy to catch all the tears!!!:lol::lol:

your best bet is a safety deposit box at the bank, that way the only thing ya gotta worry about not losing is the key.

Yeah that makes sense. If you bury it and something happens to you, they may not know it is out there. At least in a bank someone would be able to trace it to your name.
