Selling Equipment? Know Your Shipping Costs!

Post Office: specify the cheapest way possible. Cost me $15 to ship a detector, with a tracking number.
Dude, you gotta cut that box down to size.

It's All Good

Thanks for rubbing it in fellas!

I learned a costly lesson, but at least I know the forum member that bought it from me will get it in a timely manner, insured, and professionally packaged. To me that is the important thing. Again, I posted my experience to make a point, and hopefully save someone else some money!

You could have shipped yourself in that beast of a box, with the scoop in hand, and personally handed it to the buyer when he peeled open the lid! That's a tough break!

If I ever have a scoop that finds me over $3,000.00 in Gold....the only place it's going is over the mantle of my fireplace......

How come Reilly's can ship the scoop for around $10-20.

UPS Store is a ripoff, taken things there in the past and walked out after they told me something was going to cost me $59.00 to ship a parcel I packed that they would have had to just slap a label on.
Went directly to UPS and it cost about half that amount and complained. UPS said the stores are independent operations and can set their own add'l service charges.

Next time, measure your box and weight and use the online rate calculators.
Just changing the size in one dimension, may put it outside the oversize rate.

All we have here in our little town is a post office and a UPS Store about 12 miles away. I always use usps and about 99.9% of the time use their priority mail. One of the last detectors I sold (it went to Florida) the buyer insisted on UPS, so of course that's the way I sent it. It cost me $46.00 and change, yes the box was a little bit bigger than a normal Tesoro box but not that much, I will stick to using usps. I think that FeEX is a good option but we don't have any in our area that I know of.

Thank god my scoop is a travel scoop so I can break it in half if I ever sell it...it has recovered me about $1 of its $150 cost but then ive only been to two beaches so another 149 beaches and it'll be covered..

Probably cut down you would still have paid a bunch.I made and donated a stainless scoop and long handle digger i made to a friend whose wife is battling cancer.Box smaller than yours was 55$. UPS is like the electric authority around here, closing up all the stores.Light bill you got to pay western union at the grocery store.Package you gotta find a UPS store.Hell remember when a stamp was 5 cent? Took over a hundred years to go from 1 to 5 cent. Now you can't afford to send a letter.Bargain my ass:lol: We got to buy them some cheese next time they start whining!
