Sanborn maps changed account/password

Sorry guys, I had to remove all the posts in this thread with usernames/passwords regarding Sanborn site. I don't think its was a good idea to post them on a public forum.

Please read their terms and conditions here http://sanborn.umi.com/HelpFiles/about.html

So did you previously pull the usernames/password out of threads? Sanborn has been posted MANY times on this forum.

That still doesn't make it right. We don't monitor 100% of all threads, but when we find one that is troublesome, we can't ignore it simply because there was an old thread about it.

As members, we should'nt expose the Owners of this site to possible legal action by posting restricted information.
Now, let's all have some fun and go out a swing a detector somewhere!:D

That's not what I am saying. What I am pointing out is that the fact that the password/usernames have been posted frequently, and I've never noticed them deleted until yesterday's thread. I understand why they were deleted, but the previous lack of enforcement or consistency on the issue is frustrating. True, I dont read every post so I may be wrong about them not being deleted in the past, but regardless, quite a few have been allowed to persist until today.

But now I know - no passwords.

Is it not a possibility that the mods, etc here simply didn't read that particular thread? You don't think that they read *every* post here, do you?

Why don't you call Sanborn and ask them for a Friendly Forum log in? Perhaps they would oblige?

Become part of the solution.

I just stated that I myself don't read every post and thread; what would lead you to believe that I would expect others to do so? I only have one set of eyes; however, there are multiple moderators and a few admins. Between the bunch of them I would think that more would've been caught previously if it was indeed an issue. Things will always slip through the cracks though.

Mainly because you posted that you were frustrated with the "lack of enforcement" that other passwords had not been removed previously. For someone to remove them, they would need to have known they were there, thus we assume that they would have seen the thread and read it. Since we've established the fact that no one can read all the threads I was confused by your thinking that all password threads should have been deleted in the past.

It appears that the mods have been notified of this issue and have now searched for and removed all passwords making this discussion moot.

Merry Christmas.

wow you can tell winter is here. People quit looking for stuff in the ground and started looking for stuff to argue about.

Quetion? Who hijacked my thread?

This thread was about my research plans for the winter. I go study for a final exam or two, go to work, come home, and see that it goes to sanborn maps to legal disscussions. What happened!?:?:

I guess this is also wrong?

I guess it is also wrong to pm people the passwords too? If so someone PMed me one for my area. How do I delete it? And I am sorry to say that I did not know any better and logged in by that username/password to that site. This was done before anyone said anything about it being wrong. I didn't know that it was wrong at the time so can I ask for forgiveness?
