Did a quick hunt yesterday when the temps got up to 40 at a wooded area behind an old church. Interestingly the church was originally in Philadelphia and was moved 100 north by canal boat and then 10 miles by cart to its current location at the base of a mountain in the 1840's. Have found 3 LC's, IHP's, crotal bells and other artifacts in the area but have not hunted it too hard yet. I did manage to pull another LC when out but unfortunately the ground is very wet in the area and old copper comes out really corroded. Barely able to identify it.

On another note, today was my wife's families Christmas party and it was snowing out so detecting was a no/go. I did speak to her cousin at the party who owns a 30 acre 1700's farm 1/2 mile from me and gave me permission to detect it. :D

I have sooooo many old 1700 and 1800 permissions I'll never get to all of them. Farm field have been super kind to me this year, both in old silver and old copper. Good problem to have.

Steve

Went out yesterday for an hour until I got cold and found this heavy sterling ring with 7 crosses. Any idea how old it is?

You poor pathetic soul. You had to content yourself with a corroded one ?? OH the indignity. :sissyfight:

Maybe you should start a detectorist guide service with all those permissions you'll never get to:D

Wow what a cool ring, I would say old. Congrats on the find, on the old copper and all the rest Steve. If you ever get tired of hunting alone I'm sure you would have no trouble finding a huntin' buddy. Haha Happy Holidays. Mark
