We have a debate going on here at the moment, as to whether we should join in the bombing campaign in Syria.
To be honest, I am against it. Pinpoint bombing doesn't happen as often
as the news videos would have us believe.
We saw a few laser guided missiles hitting their targets in the first Gulf
war, we also saw the results when the wrong targets were hit. Innocent
men, women and children killed.
A bombing campaign would take place from high altitude, to avoid short
range surface to air missiles, meaning that targets would difficult to
identify, and even more difficult to hit.
With Nazi Germany and Japan, you had clearly defined targets, not so
in Syria.
Then we come to "Boots on the ground". I don't think the European
(or American) public have the appetite to see more of their servicemen
coming home in bodybags. Or to see videos of their loved ones being
executed by ISIL animals.
Personally, I'd let the Russians get on with it.
Sorry for getting political on here, but you have to look at these things in the long term.
