Never mind the silver, my favorite all time find is this beautiful Large Cent I found last year on a tearout downtown Racine. so ridiculous, it brought me to my knees. It looks just like it did when it was minted:yes:

A 240 year old silver spanish half reale dated 1773. Its older than the declaration of independence. I can just stare at it for hours and wonder where all its been and how long its been in the ground before i found it.

Hard to choose but I think my favorite find was this Light Artillery button from the War of 1812. Imagining its history, both national and personal, is awe-inspiring. Thinking about it falling off a soldier's uniform as he wandered around his encampment, preparing to go to war in a wild, relatively unknown land, probably far from home, is extremely humbling. And realizing it was manufactured and worn during such a tumultuous time in our young country's history is simply incredible:

However, as far as coins go, my favorite coin to date is an 1827/7 U.S. Capped Bust dime:

Rings recovered for a cache hidden some 50 years ago taken for a local shop that is long gone. Years of leads and research led to these in an open field. Some 20+ custom silver and silver & turquoise rings were hidden.

Do you have a post about this research and story behind the finds somewhere?
Sounds like a heck of a story!

Well, my best of all was the 1945 Walking liberty Half found in Hollywood in 1984. But the most recent best is the silver earring I found last week!

I still get a thrill looking at it

My favorite find is this solid cast lead/pewter South Carolina button from the Civil War. Found it along Confederate earthworks surrounding Richmond, VA. It's pretty rare and valuable, not my most valuable find, but this one means the most to me. I'm a SC boy born and raised.

My most valuable find is this Confederate Script E, Engineer's button. They are super rare, and even with the slight bend in the back, I could get well over $1K for it.

My best coin is the 1862 Seated Half Dime. I pulled it from the river my first year water hunting.

Awesome post by the way, really enjoying all the stellar finds.

My favorite find will have to be my early 1900s Dentists Token. Dr Smyser had an office here in Wichita and one in Hutchinson Ks. It not only has his name and portrait, it also has a reeded edge.
