Picked up new Cz455 American 22lr,,look at how the Gemtech ammo shoots in it

Thanks Steve. For the money those Savage rifles are hard to beat. I've owned a few. Still have a FVSR.
Too bad you're so far away. I'd gladly sell you my Gen-1 Axis .223.
I've come to hate it. It's okay for what it is, I guess, but I picked up a Ruger American Predator .223 that I like a lot better. I'd rebarrel the Axis in .300BLK, but the cost of a barrel is so close to the price of a new Ruger Ranch in .300BLK that it's not worth the bother.
I do like Savage guns typically. I'll never part with my old 10FPLE/2A .308. That gun makes me look like a star out to 1000yds w/Federal Gold Medal Match 175gr.

Bumping this old thread to show off what my wife got me for Christmas. A new HB Industries Chassis for my CZ 457 Pro Varmint. Basically converts it to a CZ 457 VPC which they apparently discontinued for whatever reason. Also installed a Timney trigger set at 10oz.

Anyone else get any gun stuff for Christmas?

Didn't realize this was an old thread Dewayne till I saw Mudpuppy commenting, thats when I looked at the date. Ha ha. So I scrolled to the end and backed in. Nice rig, you musta been a good boy. Although I didn't get any sportin stuff for Christmas I did treat myself a little for my birthday back in the end of Sept. I always wanted a Henry Golden Boy, I decided on a 22 for two reasons, one the cost of shooting

Screenshot_20240105_170343_Gallery (2).jpg these days and secondly because I have a ton of ammo for it. So a plinker it will be. Also decided to I wanted to give the Legend a try.. Happy Birthday to me. Downside is I also got Covid for my day as well. By the time I was back at it the deerhunters pretty much had the range tied up at the local club. So I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. This ain't like livin in the country where you can just start shootin off your backporch. Although I do have a couple of groundhogs that I do plan on doing just that with. Anyway congrats on the new rig and I hope its a buttonholer. Good luck in the new year.

All but one of my Savage rifles have been 22LR, so not a lot of experience with their center fire rifles. The 22’s have been a real bang for the buck though.

Thanks Mark. That is a nice rifle and an awesome birthday present, even if you did give it to yourself. :D I’ve mostly been shooting my 22lr’s for the same reason. I have a safe full of CCI Standard. I live in the city, but since I have a wooden privacy fence, a silencer and a large bullet trap, I’m able to shoot in my backyard, Thing is whisper quiet. The bullet hitting the target is a little loud but I think I can muffle that out a bit with some rubber.

Hope you get out to shoot yours soon and good luck in ‘24!

This is my DIY backyard bullet trap. 1/2” thick AR500 is probably overkill for 22LR, but it works. I stuffed the old blanket behind the paper target today to see if helps mute the sound of the bullet hitting steel. It helped a little. It’ll work until I can get something better.
