Ornate Piece

Got this about 6" down on the property of a 1920s home. Not really any ideas what this could be. First impression was a drawer pull but seems a little fragile for that with the intricate work.

Cannot make anything out on that gold colored oval on the top. Seems like the bottom could have been attached to something.

Any help or guesses are appreciated!!!

The oval piece could have been something to magnetically attach it to something. Sort of like a topper? I'm just simply guessing.

Regardless, that's a cool looking find!
 
The oval place looks like it could be cork or some similar material. If so, I'd say the top to a perfume bottle.

Thank you Captain!! After seeing your post I did a search for ladies hat pins and I found the first photo below. Then I did a little more cleaning and found that mine has a single initial as well!! It has an "R". Great ID. thanks!
