It rained pretty good yesterday and today dawned sunny but chilly and I figured I would hit a spot that I had given a once over when it was too thick to hunt back in May. This property is the oldest house still standing in our county. It has not been inhabited for about 25 years. Too bad, it is getting all overgrown. It was a nice farm at one time in a great spot. It is called Alexander Springs.
Like I said, I had a nagging desire to get to this place for a while now, and all I can say is I am going to trust those feelings more often, what a morning! The first decent signal I got was along the path on the side of the house, turned out to be a pretty cool ax head, I am going to clean this up, I have not ever seen one quite like it. After trying to clear all the barbed wire strew throughout the yard and trying to avoid the burrdock without hitting anything more than some bullet casings, I came upon a mound covered with honeysuckle bushes, I decided to poke around underneath them and got a really good solid signal, out popped a first for me, my first Half Cent 1810! With the blood pumping not 3 feet from there I hit another similar signal and out popped a 1808 Large Cent. A few minutes later another signal and I knew before I dug, it was another large cent and it was 1819. I also dug a couple flat buttons, one really nice gold one with a real intricate fabric design, the back mark is Robinson Extra Rich and something I can't quite make out. Hardly any trash, I did dig several tack rings etc. Several square nails and a couple large hand made strap hinges. All in all an awesome day, my single best day on coppers, one some more vegetation dies back, I will hit it again.

Thanks Steve, I like that too, haven't seen one like that before, it is pretty old, wonder if I should do electrolysis on it?
By the way, I got lots more places besides this one lined up for winter hunting, get that knee working!!!

I gotta find a place like that around here... I just gotta.

Nice job Wayne. Looks like a fun place. So glad we finally got rain. I was tired of digging in concrete.
