So your Rep power is based off of your previous posts and whether people liked them or not?

Pretty much. There's a couple of other things that come into play, like how long you've been a member, etc. I left the settings on "default."

So, it's all a mysterious algorithm. ;)

Here's a clue though:

Register Date Factor
For every X number of days, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power. (default is 365)

Post Count Factor
For every X number of posts, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power. (default is 1000)

Reputation Point Factor
For every X points of reputation, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power. (default is 100)

Minimum Post Count
How many posts must a user have before his reputation hits count on others? (default is 50)

Minimum Reputation Count
How much reputation must a user have before his reputation hits count on others? (default is 10)

Daily Reputation Clicks Limit
How many reputation clicks can a user give over each 24 hour period? Administrators are exempt from this limit. (default is 10)

Reputation User Spread
How many different users must you give reputation to before you can hit the same person again? Administrators are exempt from this limit. (default is 20)

I may change these settings though, they seem too high. Plus, I can't figure out when the Rep level updates in our posts. Seems like it should update automatically once the page is refreshed.

I found it in a category under Subscribed Threads.

So, yeah, the settings are too high for this forum.

I'll lower the required points in the morning. :D

I'm glad I don't feel so stupid now. I just discovered the rep points this morning. I was wondering what that little green box was under my name. I expected to get around -10,000,000 with all the garbage you all put up with.

Nice job implementing a points system based on your awesomeness. We'll see how well this works.:juggle:

No fun Carol, you took all the mystery out of it.... ;) It's a nice feature, especially if you have a member saying rude things on a post. It allows people to express themselves about that person without the long argumentive posts. You just give them a red mark (infraction), then everyone knows they are full of it. It's also nice to thank someone for an informative post. I was on an arborist forum a couple of years ago (yes, there are other forums out there besides metal detecting...) and after so many good marks, I think one hundred, you rec'd a nova, which is basically a gold star..
