So I'm sitting here in Carroll County dying to go detecting and I thought to myself, "what about OC?" That thought ran through my mind about 10 mins ago and needless to say I am now going to OC tomorrow to beach hunt. Hopefully I don't freeze to death. Anyone been beach hunting in the winter? Any advice?

Gear

High 28 Degrees , water temp 41 degrees, ya better have waterproof heavy insulated waders, or 7 mil wet suit, depends on the conditions , most of the time it is sanded in, I would dress warm, in those temps by the water , you can get cold quick, take food, and water, the board walk is closed, I walked 3 miles in November, just to look for a food place that was open, enjoy your trip, I am getting snow -cold indoor fever myself, I know what you mean, happy hunting & good luck , Earl

Oh I'm not going in the water, I'm just going on the sand. No water for me lol. Got thermals and a jacket to wear over a sweat shirt.

Advice? Yeah...... Don't get wet, stay warm, have fun and find tons of cool stuff! Bring a camera.... we're all voyeurs here!

well

I can tell you the dry , is all cleaned up, this time a year, slim pickings after September in the dry, the beach is hunted hard, but have fun anyway, you might find a few strays, post what you find, when you get back, Earl

It beats sitting at home drooling over what I could be finding!

after freezing my butt off for a few hours, I came up with just a lil bit. lots of trash. I found three dimes mid way through. Then late in the trip I got this lil sterling ring... Froze half to death, but was worth it :)

Good job and a very nice ring...., and I do not know how you handled the cold. They ended up canceling the Saturdays Polar Plunge it was so bitter ....:windy:

I heard one guy had frost all over his body and they had to give him medical care, this was the Police Plunge on Friday...
