When I ground balance the nox will settle on a certain ground balance number. One thing I've noticed that I haven't heard anyone else mention is this: Once I've ground balanced and get that GB #, I can hunt for a little while covering a small area, check the ground balance and it will be a different #. This with tracking not on. Has anyone else noticed this? I'm wondering if it does actually track, but in relation to that original ground balance that's done.

I havent really noticed , I just set it and forget it. I will pay attention to it next time and see what it does.

From what I have read , a ground balance of -0- is supposed to work fine for most places , meaning no ground balance necessary. For like 90% of the planet someone said. Thats confusing since when I ground balance mine it goes atleast into the 20's.....thats a pretty wide gap between 0 and 23 for it to be considered just as accurate.

Here's something to read (thanks to TNSS for posting this): http://www.detectorprospector.com/f...nd-balance/?page=2&tab=comments#comment-63454
Sounds like the ground balance function doesn't really do much unless you're in highly mineralized ground. I first got my nox I ground balanced each hunt, but lately I've been leaving mine at 0 and it seems to work fine.

Interesting read. Kinda looks like ground balance dont matter too much unless you are in a single frequency mode , then it might

I have only seen that when I had by accident put it in tracking... I do have to reset mine if I cut my machine off it goes back to 14 ever in my user profile ..

I've been using tracking. I don't notice any issues. However what I read in manual is each mode does it's own ground balance automatically. Or at least something like that. Says set at 0 in park/field/beach for best results and if you hear ground noise do an automatic ground balance. I have actually done none if this yet but tracking seems to work fine but I know it's for gold field.
