Nox 800 coil cover issues

Depends on where and when. I don't use coil covers at all, but my competitors sleeping and living in a tent beside the beach use zip ties

Then the zip ties must work. They must be smoking you in the finds department. Sleeping, eating , breathing , metal detecting 24/7. Sounds like you best move on to a different beach !

Every single beach in the country is covered with them. Been discussing this problem on here for years. .. it only gets worse every year, and the eq has helped speed that up.

During fresh drop season my old hot spot will see on,average of 24 hunters a night regardless of weather. The beach is a little smaller than a football field. Wet and dry. No etiquette or rules for the 24. No finds pouch. Every single 1 of them owns the beach and everyone else is in their way. If 1 guy is digging lots of holes, he will be surrounded and have so much interference the detector doesn't really function well

Ugh.... sounds a little over the top , but I see it. I came to realize a few years ago it was fruitless. Gold is too high per ounce - bottom line. Thought I would share some knowledge. Give back. You know ? Brought a couple friends into the hobby....well...that backfired. Now I'm back hunting solo.
Some guys here know I'm experienced and follow me. When i start digging a few holes in a hot spot , they will bunny hop ahead of me. Then I jump ahead of them. They go crazy ! Leading them about a quarter mile away , I double back and return to my honey hole ! Hahaha !!! But your right...sometimes I show up and there's just too many there...and I move on...

Cover on the nox

I like it, doesn't come off the the Excaliburs' in the water, wet, comes off easy , unlike the DF, yes you do have to keep thumb finger pressing, start on the outside , than work inside till all the cracking noice is gone, Kob get Chickie With It :cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::laughing:

Get chickie....lol...it's the water and sand constantly getting underneath the coil cover. I'm just going to epoxy it. Won't have to worry about it again , no falsing or cleaning.

Kob

I can see Epoxy on a Excalibur Coil , but the Nox , over kill, beside's that will VOID your warrenty on the Coil, maybe not the head , but you need to reconsider bro . after the 3 year warrenty is up , until than ya better not get over Chicky with it how bought that .:police::crazy::crackup:

Yup... it's at a point now for me where skill means very little. It's like getting swarmed by an ant colony

After reading some of these comments I tried to remove the coil cover on my Nox 800. I never could get it to come off and I didn't want to pry too hard. Are some of these glued on from the factory?

The cover sort of snaps in around the edges. If you have a lot of crud build up it can be difficult to snap off. I was afraid to remove mine for the first time but slowly worked my way around the coil snapping off small sections at a time. Try grabbing a part of the coil where you can get your thumbs close to each other, bottom of the coil facing away from you and push the edge of the coil cover away from you.

I managed to find one small loose spot but it didn't want to go beyond that spot. I think I'll just leave it alone unless it causes a problem unless someone thinks that is a bad idea.

Look down the very center of the coil. It's wider and on each side you will see small tabs that will snap on and off into place. This might be your problem area. I was apprehensive at 1st when I did mine the 1st time. It won't break. After that , it's easy. But you do need to clean it !

I filled the coil cover 1/3 full of a two part epoxy then set the coil into..lt comes gushing out but nothing gets in there now. xcalibur coils are famous for separating and letting water into the insides.

It's done ! I did exactly that. Filled up the cover with 2 part epoxy , oozing all out. Then after the coil was all snapped firmly in place , I brushed all the edges for a more cleaner finish. Looks like a factory job ! Had to work very fast as this all set up in like 5 minutes. Works great , no longer have to worry about constantly taking off the cover to clean it. Thanks !

Coil covers were meant for dirt hunters....and people who hunt Connecticut beaches...aka rocks with some sand mixed in.

And people who DON'T use coil covers are ones whose coils never touch the ground !

Ok I got it off and cleaned it. There wasn't much there. I guess that means I'm not using it enough. [emoji38] Of course I already knew that.

Glad you finally did it. It will be much easier for you now.
