Nokta Impact information

what a great built machine. finally got the grip angle right. one flaw, arm cuff is wide enough for my leg and I'm a big guy. So who's making custom cuffs or added pads? lol strap wont help. I'll live with it though.

The arm cuff sounds encouraging. I hate most cuffs as they are too narrow for my arm to fit without feeling trapped. The T2 classic cuff is close, could stand to be a little wider. Do I wait and find a used Impact or buy a new one ?What's the deal with the wireless headphones ? It seems some are not getting them when buying the pro package ?I thought it was included in that package or no ?

Wireless headphones are sold separately.

Um??
I never have used arm strap,,no need.
I like to be able to egress from detector quickly anyway.
Look forward to your future comments.

i do as well. I have popeye arms but with strap the cuff flexes snug. i stand corrected. very nice with strap. without i have over half inch play. im 6'1" and 230lbs. too floppy for my no strap prefferred method. but im being picky. this thing is a top performer in the garden and build.

So it has made an Impact on you then??lol

I look forward to an in-depth review from you.

Btw,,with your height,,how much room is left on the rod for adjustment??
In case some other tall folks are interested.
I'm not quite as tall as you are.

I would like to see someone who has purchased pro pack package,,to post a few pics of case,,and how the components fit in to it.

I never got one of those cases.

Others too maybe would like to see.

Also,,maybe try a timed test for disassembly and putting components in case.

And a timed test for assembly removing components from case and getting detector ready for action in the field.

To show just how easy this detector breaks down,,and can be assembled in the field.

My first impression with a quick hunt in my test

Edit--I don't know what happened to me video

That sounds like work! :p Here is a good guy I know showing and unboxing. These stock Phillips headphones now with Makro's and Nokta are a vast improvement over the old tiny Koss ones. Yeah, they are still cheaper but they are 32 ohm and sound/fit well. (he didn't realize wireless headphones were an add on in the video)

The case is pretty nice. Come's pre-packaged in the case so it's easy to see how things fit. There isn't padding or hard shell but its very durable canvas.

Assembly is very easy. This CTX like setup should be a standard on high end detectors.

I checked out a prototype Impact. But having the brand new out of the box experience really lets you realize how well built they are and how much thought was in it's packaging, design, and of course performance.

I have no dog in this fight. I only sell Makro. Wish they had an Impact version.

Well I decided to jump on the Impact wagon today. In other words the wife told me I could get it lol. I will be receiving it whenever they are back in stock. I can't wait to get this thing and fire it up! I'm sure I will be rereading this thread a couple times.

I'm just excited about going to the spots I feel I hunted out and seeing what my faithful Etrac missed. That will be the true test for me. I will be sharing my knowledge as time goes on and hopefully make some awesome finds!

Folks need to remember,,,stock programs are not set up with high gain.

Higher gain than default (stock) settings will allow Impact to give better ID on deeper targets.

I have one complaint that I will write up in my review, but the machine is as chattery as the F75. My ground was 40-55 ground balanced. It runs like there was emi at every step.

The machine does hit hard on good targets but it loves bottle caps more than the AT Pro. Until I get that little turn at the end of the tone and maybe use the smaller coil, I am disappointed in the iron halo that can fool this machine.

This is where the iron audio shines from the AT Pro

The pic is from my 3 hour hunt in a hammered park that has been swung on with every kind of detector.

You can see the trash, I did dig trash in all the tone modes just to see what was what.

The coins were mixed in with the trash but you can see the bottle tops that read in the 80's

Well, first the Impact is not an At Pro.

Next,,,do you think you have enough time thus far to be talking of a review??

Have you checked bottle caps using all modes.
Try di99 and listen.
Compare to a zincoln,,,tell me which one you would dig.

Play with iron tone setting,,see what it brings.

Don't forget the Impact has other freqs.
Have you swept a bottle cap using 5khz.
Try it.

The Impact has tools,,modes,,and freqs,,and other settings.
You learn how to use these,,,depending on sites,,targets, etc,,and life will be good as a detectorist.

Up in this thread,,I talk about how to identify junk targets using the different freqs.

A person can distinguish high conductors using and also mid conductors like lead, etc by doing.

Sweep a quarter sized piece of can slaw using 14and 20khz,,notice ID.
Then sweep with 5khz,,notice the ID.
Then lay a pre 82 penny down and repeat above.
Notice anything??
Use either 2 tone, 3 tone,,4 tone,or DI99 for this experiment,,,not the VLX modes.
VERY IMPORTANT for this experiement,,,turn Vdi Normalization off,,it is on by default.

Repeat experiment above using aluminum bottle Twist cap,,and notice what you see.
Can slaw and aluminum cap get dumped into low 40s ID or lower,,pre 82 penny reports around 66. Big spread here using 5khz vs using other freqs.

Bet the At Pro can't do this,,,person will dig those caps like no tomorrow using At Pro and other single freq detectors.

High conductors will likely read 64 plus ID wise using 5khz.
Mid conductors will read high 40s to around 60.
Junk will read less than 43 usually,,this does include gold jewelry.,obviously it wouldn't be junk- using 5khz.
Some bigger gold rings could read a little higher.

You are testy for no reason, I am trying to edit a video that will show I learn very well and did many of the things you have.

Can I do a review now? Of course I can. First impressions go along way.

I know it's not an AT Pro. Never said it was was. If you look at your pics and the one I just posted, they look similar. You dig junk to find out what it is just I did.

The iron audio is a great feature on the ATP! It cut out a ton of the learning curve.

But people wanting to buy an Impact should know what to expect on the first trip.

It is as chirpy as the F75, no way around it. Is it a deal breaker? Not yet.

I appreciate your review as a whole because you have taken the time to explain things. Like the language, it is fairly easy to tell what you meant but when you are learning a machine we need to dig everything regardless of the frequency.

Saying a machine loves bottle caps is not a bad thing. You yourself have said it is easy to get fooled with this machine.

I have produced three quick look videos showing some of the Impacts capabilities. Unlike most, I find air tests to be misleading. I do mine on the ground where the various ground conditions occur. I did them in the frequency that works best for me and my soil.

I have found a copper penny in the same hole as a nail. I found a square pull top in the same hole asa nail.

So because I haven't shown it yet doesn't mean I haven't done all the things you have told us and I even took my manual with me to verify information.

All I have to further add is that you reread a few of your latest posts. I asked you a week ago if you have made the impact your main machine. You said, well read it for yourself.

But I do thank you for all you have done so far because what you lacked in video testing you more than made up for in written form which is more informative for me and more than all of the other testers.

Btw, you asked to be critiqued on your reviews

I don't have a main machine.
I have multiple machines I take depending on several factors.

I want folks to report.
I want folks to review.

I also want folks to run the unit more than a couple outings,,,before they draw any hard core conclusions.

If I would have rated Impact after 2 or3 outings,,or some 20 hours of use-- I wouldn't have gave it near as high a marks.
Just too much to try settings wise to nail down in a short period and and use while detecting.

I wish Di4 allowed tone adjustment and not just tone break so I can high tone a nickel without having to disc out iron like setting it up in Di3. Oh well, the nickel ID isnt much to write home about anyway. Maybe a future ipdate will give more options. I've only had time to play in my garden though. Definitely like a refined Racer 2 with more options and depth. Audio very nice.

Here is the video that disappeared on me.

TNSS I am downloading a video right now to publish later. You are right about the "language" he Impact has.

I did find a coin above a nail!

Keep the videos a coming,,the more the merrier.
Especially if you can show video(s) that reflects some of what I've said about this detector.

So,,now you are a tester.

TNSS i know you rate the Impact as a decent separator and fast recovery, have you tried the nail board test? I seen Keith's down the barrel test with the small coil, and i think i read somewhere that the Impact failed the test and came behind the Racer?
I rate a 3d test more, but the nail board test gives another picture as well.
