"No Metal Detecting" sign

The way I see it, get there before or after people are there. Do your detecting, and leave no trace! I'm like DUST IN THE WIND!

Unless it's posted, or I'm on private property, I'm detecting!

Interesting. My searches of the Internet cannot locate that ordinance pertaining to metal detecting. Could this be a deterrent and not an ordinance?

Here's a Sign i saw down in Gettysburg ... Check it out

Here in Canada we are very fortunate. There are basically no laws for MD'ing that I know of. I have spent time in our Provincial Parks MD'ing. Even asked the park rangers where I should hunt. I have hunted in front of Gov Buildings and near historical locations with no problems. The folks from the historical location even came out to see if I found anything interesting. It's a very pleasent hobby here with unrestricted access to almost everything.

Let's hope it doesn't change.

If you ever go to Prince Edward Island, hunt Green Park. Been there once visiting family. Hardly any time to detect, but we did for a bit. and I have a relative in Ellerslie who owns an old house where a tavern once stood. I know she'd give you permission.

Actually the Clay County ordinance bans detecting in County owned cemeteries and anything on the "Florida master plan". I emailed the county and asked what was covered under the master plan. The responded back with 6 different properties. I asked specifically about parks and they said it was allowed.

the only reason this sign is their because claud bass the county historian hates metal detectors and people who use them but all the land around that park is private property I've hunted all around it without any problem. i use to work for the county and would openly talk about md'ing in front of him he hated me and i loved it. theirs still plenty of places in clay where his signs have no meaning, i know 3 old school house sights 2 bottle dumps,2 hotel sights and several locations around old belmore

Looks like I need to visit my friends in northern Ontario more!

I live in Winston Salem NC. I couldn't find any rules on the web regarding our parks, cept the usual grey ones. I emailed the park director and was told all city parks are off limits. He stated it's become a big issue the last few years with complaints every week. I don't hunt them because he said no. A friend of mine that does says he's now seeing "No Metal Detecting" signs popping up.

So, just curious are these signs recently put up? Yeah, I am moving to Canada or at least start taking my vacations there. I have been to Montreal on several bussiness trips and loved the area.
