New Minelab Equinox

I agree 100% the tones and numbers were all over the place. Not only on that target, but others too.

With him being on a Roman field, obviously he'd dig that target, but I also wondered how many coin hunters would dig that trashy signal in "most" places that we hunt. I had the same observations, and I have a feeling there will be a few guys who are disappointed once they get their hands on one.

Nothing I saw in this video impressed me, but I'll give benefit of the doubt that the one that was functioning in his hands, that the video was about, that he was using, that works.... is just a prototype and not the actual Equinox, evein if it does have the logo right on it, this one was a prototype, so we can expect the real one to be even better, I'll give em that much.

I don't think ANYTHING is supposed to be assumed, based on numbers that were seen; the video said that specifically, at the beginning, and I believe I saw in another video where a Minelab rep said that the TID numbers have not been set/normalized in the software yet.

It's still a prototype machine...

A few details

Thanks for the article. Interesting that it says "Multi-IQ" multifrequency technology will be more suited to high-frequency (lower-conductive) targets, and less so to low-frequency targets (high conductors) when compared to FBS/BBS. It says FBS and BBS will still have an advantage on silver coins and other high conductive targets...

I am not surprised, but was hoping that was not the case...

Not be ugly ,,, but i have told everyone ,,, if they read what i posted lol, that it would not be better than etrac or ctx... and why do peeps own those machines? To find silver coins, not relic hunt. But it will still be a good mid level machine like i posted it would be. I am and have been excited for it's release, but i was the only or one of a very few that called it for what it is.

Will still be exciting though to get some new technology!

Trashfinder, I agree with you, and I have said the very same thing in other posts/on other forums. It seemed pretty clear to me that this machine was not targeted directly as a replacement for the CTX or E-Trac; it's a multi-purpose machine that Minelab seems to intend as being a "replacement" of the X-Terra line, and also at the same time to challenge units like the Deus, etc. by offering similar characteristics PLUS the multi-frequency option.

That doesn't mean, however, that there was no hope that it might be "hot" on high conductors. I wasn't EXPECTING it, but hoping; not my words at the end of my post, saying "I am not surprised, but..."

I suspect we might see a new light weight flagship FBS machine in the next year or two. In the meantime I'm going to try the Equinox 800.

Don't get too excited, Dr Tones found 1 Roman...but supposedly a woman testing a new Whites multifrequency prototype found a dozen of them spread out recently in one day. It could have been a private property permission though, which would realistically make huge difference.

I am already too excited Equinox is the best!!

Me too, I like speed.
I like stable.
I like light weight.

I think I read correctly, Equinox supposed to cope as well with salt water vs fbs/bbs???
If so, whoopee for some folks !!
Should be some jewelry had big time using them on the beaches.
And not have sore arms and shoulders.

I am very sure we will see the next step above the CTX in the very near future, i love detectors and testing them so they will be getting my money , i am already on the waiting list for the equinox 800 machine, got a feeling it will be in the stable for awhile!

No need to get butthurt, I was just stating facts. It was quite an upgrade in many ways IN MY OPINION and many others. Etrac is certainly a great machine, but the CTX is definitely superior. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. It makes no difference to me either way as I own both machines, but the Etrac hasn't gotten used at all since I bought the CTX. I would say the silver count atleast 1.5x-doubled after learning the CTX, especially in trash, iron infested areas, and "hunted out" fairgrounds and parks. I just jumped on the pre-order bandwagon for the Equinox. It looks impressive enough so far at that price point to get my hands on one for a bit. I don't know if it will put the CTX on the back burner as some are saying but it will at least be a great companion to it and interesting to see if it can sniff out anything the CTX misses. Can't wait to give it a go.

I'm not butthurt at all. In fact it was you that felt the need to respond to my comment. When people misquote or take something someone says out of context, the appropriate response is to set the record straight, and that's what I did.

I'm glad you are doing well with the CTX. I'm sure it's a very fine machine. Since I have never used the CTX, I can't personally comment on it. I was just echoing the feedback I have read from some CTX users. But as we know, not all users are at the same skill level. Perhaps you are able to get more out of the CTX than others. I understand and appreciate that.

When you get the Equinox please report back with detailed comparisons.

Is this one?

I at least know where the umbilical cord idea came from...

Please stop these posts! There may well be some senior detectorists in ambulances right now or confined to a bed because of these video comparisons you keep posting. Please have some respect and realize, these videos could harm some people. I am not a senior yet and they have harmed me! You could very well be named in a class action lawsuit....

CTX in a similar test as Equinox was used.

So folks can compare here's the vid with Equinox again.

I found an older picture of one, and brought it up to date....

Im trying to figure out why they would say a 5 kh machine , I think is the lowest freq it will run is not hot on silver. The deus in 7 kh will smack silver,,,,, or are they just comparing it to fbs?

Yes, I think they were comparing it to FBS. Further, my assumption, though I could be wrong, is that IF the machine is using 5, 10, 15, 20, and 40 as its frequencies that are running simultaneously, that is -- overall -- a higher grouping of frequencies, such that Multi-IQ would be skewed in the direction of lower conductive/smaller targets...

If I am not mistaken, FBS frequencies range from 3.125 at the low end to 25 at the high end...
