Hello new friends!

Okay so here is a quick rundown of my situation. Back in December my wife and I got into an argument which resulted in me throwing my wedding ring out the back door and onto the lawn... somewhere. As I saw the ring fly into darkness... I had a pretty good idea as to the area it had landed. I had been looking for the ring as much as possible since but with no luck. I couldn't afford a metal detector because I couldn't afford it. Until recently a coworker allowed me to borrow his. Now since December my lawn has seriously grown nearly 2 1/2 feet tall. No joke. I had been afraid to mow it because I didn't want to take the chance of having it get picked up by the mower and giving it burrs or really chewing it up but before I started my metal detecting journey, I did knock the grass down with a weed whacker to help. So with all of that said, I have in my possession a Bounty Hunter Tracker IV metal detector. The ring is made out of Titanium Carbide or Tungsten Carbide or just one of those types. I really cant remember exactly but I know its is or it is really close to those materials. Is it possible for that metal detector to pick up that type of ring? I am having a real hard time understanding the ins and outs of using a metal detector and getting the proper settings set. Can anyone help me narrow down the settings on this Tracker IV? Any information at all would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all for your input.

Welcome to the forum! I have a Tracker IV also and the normal setting would be sensitivity as high as you can get it without it going nuts, disc at the 2 o'clock position and the switch to the right in discriminate mode. This should work but if not someone should chime in soon to help you with the exact settings for your type of ring. Good luck and let us know how you make out!

Great news... It has been found. You guys have been great help as I tremendously appreciate it. The funny thing was that after I threw the ring, I took my original ring and had thrown that one to get a general idea to where the other one had landed. Well easily distracted by my kids, I lost that one as well. They were both not even close to where I thought they were. Fortunate for me I was able to take the advice given to me from new jersey andy. Within about 15 minutes I was able to find both and also a set of keys that I am guessing were lost by someone who built my house about 12 years ago. That was cool. So now I will be mowing my lawn this weekend and then doing a complete all metal search just for giggles. Its actually fun. Thanks again for all of your help and when I am done I will be sure to post a picture of all my findings. Thanks again lifesavers.

Congrats on the finds, why would your throw a second?? Glad it worked out.. so many times these stories end bad, but good find.. and next time.. throw a set of keys instead of your ring.. the ones you found would work.. lol.. aaahhh.. keep us informed if you find anything else..
