I personally do not like the fact that the dates and the "In God We Trust" and "E. Pluribus Unum" mottos are going to be stamped on the rim f the coins. What were they thinking with that??

By putting the date and the inscription on the edge, they can make the profile of the president larger and more detailed. Also the side engraving is just one more sophisticated measure to deter would be counterfeiters.
