For the nation-wide md'ing forums like FMDF, I usually only do show & tell finds when it's something spectacular. Eg.: gold coin, or something numismatically dazzling, etc..... But seeing all these great east coast colonials, busts, LC's, etc.... lately here, has been giving me fits. So ... for what it's worth, here's the results of a trip that a buddy and I made to Nevada over the 4th of July weekend.

We hit a variety of ghost towns, RR spur sidings (where little burgs sometimes sprouted up to serve the Rail-to-mine freight transfers), stage stops, spring locations, etc.... A hodge podge of multiple different sites. Some obviously pounded to heck. And others with a little faster action.

Lots of great period targets that we love, for history sakes alone. As for coins, only 2 seated dimes. Neither of which was spectacular dates/mint. And I probably didn't help matters any when I got impatient with trying to remove black crud, and probably over-cleaned them. Doh !

Enjoy the pix :

You got a little bit of everything there, looks like a fun hunt. I think my fav is the first knife, it's so spindly and cool looking. And the dimes are pretty dang neat!

I really like the strategy behind the hunt and the Pics! Lots of Horse tack rivets and Ox shoes and all...brass casings etc...back when people were working...I bet there aint a horse within 50 miles of that place now a days, I bet there aint an Ox within 500 miles!

...A real Time capsule kind of adventure with a brace of Seateds! Yeah! Any of us would be absolutely spastic to get into that! Whens the last time anybody has seen a team of Ox working? Just to find a shoe would be really something...like a Mesozoic era fossil!

Great post Tom, congrats on the double seated dimes!

Lotta rivets and two picket knifes, liking the headstamps and cases.

Take me with you next time

I was under the impression you didn't post your finds because you didn't want the IRS involved...:no::no:

Great hunt and sounds like a nice adventure.

Awesome finds and spots by the sounds of it! That had to take alot of research, such an amazing feeling of researching a spot and the actually finding it!

Awesome collection of good oldies.

Love the older dime. I've managed a few seated dimes but not the older wreath . And especially not a CC. Cant wait to get one.
Sounds like you guys have some nice old hunting grounds out there.....enjoy.
