I hope I am not out of line with this posting. Looking for some help finding lost wedding ring.

Married 56 years. Lost It while rebuilding a planter about 3’ wide by 16’ long a couple days ago.

I live in Bangor Township near Bay City State Park. Rented a metal detector but had no luck. Had no idea how to use it.

Hoping there might be an experienced person who could help find it. Offering reward of $50

I sent your message to a member who lives in Maine...

Your lament, of getting your own detector, is a common lament . If you've never used one before, then you don't know the sounds and settings you'll need. And get fooled by all sorts of noise blaring off other metal objects in the vicinity, etc...

You can see if any hobbyists are in your area, via this directory. It is specifically aimed at matching helpers to commissioned hunts like this : https://theringfinders.com/directory/

Thanks, Craig, for thinking of me. I'll get back to you on this (I'll keep this e-mail in case I can make the 2 hour drive soon). Busy weekend with the kids.

3'x16' isn't a big area. If you are positive it's there , try a rake.

75 % confident it is in the planter. We had to dig down to dig out old shrub roots, and such. Then placed about 4 to 6 inches of new soil on top. Or, could be where excessive soil was unloaded, or where weeds and brush were unloaded. Or anywhere in between. But hoping it is in planter and fould by expeienced person. Wore gloves on and off. And yes, did check the gloves.

Thank You for this information. Checked out and have an experienced person on the way. Keeping fingers crossed.

Not a big area but... How deep was the soil worked? How big a coil on your machine?
Also even though you are pretty sure it is in the planter area there is a really good chance it isn't. I have recovered rings and people had sworn they lost them in one area it they were way far away.
White gold, regular gold, thin rings will typcially have an id lower than a us nickel. Deeper gold, rose gold contain copper and will have id's higher than a us nickel.
