Minelab X-Terra 9" Concentric 3Khz Coil Review

You missed something. I have the digger already. It's actually my first dd and I really like it. So with that being the case, what do you think? 15" coil tech, or 9 cc at 3 kHz and 10 dd at 7.5 kHz? Home hunting with generally mild soil and Virginia with possibly somewhat hot soil. You can't say all three dang it. ;)

I really think that the 10.5" 7.5kHz coil should come standard like it does in the UK. It's the one that everyone should have. Since you have a Digger already, having another DD in another frequency would be my move.

As I said, for hunting places that have a lot of stick-ups to snag on or where trash density is moderate or worse, the 15" coils are a pain.

Well, I ran the 3 kHz coil yesterday for a couple hours and I found that dimes can run but they cannot hide from this coil:lol: I found 27 dimes and 19 quarters behind a small elementary school that I recently hunted with the 7.5 kHz. Now in defense of the 7.5 kHz , I only went over a couple places with the 3kHz that I hunted with the 7.5 plus we have had some good rain a couple of days ago since I last hunted this area but I am impressed with this coil. I had the sensitivity at 18 and was hitting dimes solid at 6-7".Quarters are obviously no match for this coil either.

I love the 3 kHz on my "digger" coil. I'm definitely getting something bigger in 3 kHz, but I'm having a hard time deciding between the 9 cc or just step it up a notch and pull the trigger on the 15" coiltek. What to do, what to do.

If weight is in the equation, you need to know that the 3kHz 15" coil is 28.8oz.
I've found that it isn't as taxing to use if you shorten up the shaft length to keep your sweep just ahead of your feet. If you run the shaft longer you'll either wear yourself out, or need to counter-weight (read "add more weight") the other end.

Believe it or not, I've never had one occasion that my steel toe boots have caused an issue. I've actually kind of tried to make it a problem just to kind of test it. I pretty much always have my work boots on cause I pretty much always can be called out to work. So leaving them at home isn't an option. That's just me though.

If you get the 15" 3kHz coil you'll get some alternative footwear. I made the mistake of wearing my muckboots out to hunt fields next to a homestead once. It's so hot, and I have the shaft short to make it usable for more than 30min, and it was hitting on my boots. :(

I can top that, the 12 screws and plate in my knee sets off my pinpointer all the time, kneeling down and searching in the dirt pile

Just skip the 9" concentric, slaughter your PayPal account and get a 3kHz 15" Coiltek All Terrain if you want deep on coins.
Then invest in a good shovel....you'll need it.

Yep! That's the one I was referring to.

You will need a good shovel and boots. Also those sweat proof t shirts. I lost 10 pounds and look like a body builder since I started using the coiltek 15" coil.
