Hi, first time posting, taking detector to the beach next month, was thinking because it will be in salt spray if windy, rain/dust cover probably a good idea, suggestions? Have read, 1-gallon zip locks work just as well, maybe with rubber band.

Thanks in advance

Hi Benchthis.

Minelab makes a rain cover for the Vanquish line. The opening on the bottom could be concerning for your needs though.

First off welcome to the forum. If you plan on doing a lot of hunting around salt or even water spray then a rain dust cover is probably a good addition. However if this is just a one time thing you can do good by going to a dry cleaner and getting one of the thin clear plastic garment covers that are put on things that have just been dry cleaned. I have used these on my E-Trac in the past as you can cover the whole unit. Now keep in mind with the E-Trac the battery pack is in the stem under the control unit so I had to cover a lot more. But it did the job for me and cost me zero dollars.

Definitely wrap it,i saw two different guys drown them out not even knee deep minor splashing also when you are done don't let water drain up the cable to the module

Thanks was thinking 1-gallon zip lock bags with rubber band, but that’s just me

That would work too. I had to cover more than just the control head on my detector.as the battery pack is in the stem under the arm cuff. Plus the E-Trac's display is not noted for being really easy to read sometimes and the clearer thin plastic was easier to see through. Not very stylish, but got the job done.

I actually never met them I was on one side of a river mouth digging like crazy so the vainquish guy tried on his side of the river within minutes he was back on the beach looking over the detector trying different things and then walked off the next day I hit the same spot and sure enough I see a guy with a vainquish coming down the beach across the river from me and again he sees me digging like crazy the exact same thing happens at first I thought it was the same guy except the second day the guy was swinging properly and when he drown it out he took it apart and set it on a log to dry ,then he goes into the river with just his scoop he would take a scoop of sand and slowly pick rocks out as if he was looking for arrow tips or something,I wanted to talk to him but I couldn’t cross the river
