Minelab Taking Advantage of East Coast Enthusiasts?

Not True..

He sold all his Tesoros!

He is up to something big...

Now Nameless, that's not true. I bought all new Tesoro Lobo Super Traq's for the school, and I have about a dozen 2010 models that I'm selling. I sold my original Sand Shark, and bought another 8", and I am having a 10.5" made with tandem headphones so I can teach PI on the beach.

Now, I am up to something - very big, but you'll have to wait on that till later this summer when we have all of the manufacturers on board!

To me, it really sounds like the Atlantic City event was put together to make money, instead of promote "National Metal Detecting Day." I hope the out-of-towners that do go get a fair shake. I think a lot of people, including Minelab America, will be watching this event very closely.

I live there and am not attending...That should tell you something..

Of course I can hunt that beach every day for free, so maybe that has something to do with it :D

If you do come to town, well try the buffet at Harrahs, cause it's still the best...

Foolish not to go

I usually don't post (more of a lurker), but after seeing some of the comments about the Atlantic City hunt, all I can say is if you are not going, you are foolish! There is a lot of misleading information going around. Here is the actual information...

Saturday May 19 & Sunday May 20 - There will be 3 'adult' seeded hunts each day. A hot buffet lunch is included both days as well. You can hunt one day or both days. Early registration has passed, so now it is $95 for 1 day or $175 for both days. This price is only good until May 1. Then it goes up.

On Saturday, there will be a FREE dinner buffet at Caesar's Casino. This is one of the best casinos in Atlantic City. Definitely upscale - not a dive. Whether you hunt or not, the dinner buffet is FREE. That's right - no cost to anyone interested in metal detecting!!!

Now, you have to realize that this is NJ. NOTHING IS CHEAP HERE!!! We pay more taxes & car insurance than anywhere else (except Connecticut). I live in Bergen County about 8 miles west of NYC. Going out to have a decent dinner here costs over $75 a couple. And that is WITHOUT alcohol! This weekend is a bargain!

And you know what? Here is some information that none of you appear to have... 21 metal detectors will be awarded as prizes during that weekend. And not some crappy, cheap detectors, either! Minelab & Gold Diggers (the sponsor) have donated 2 - X Terra 305 machines, 2 - Sovereign GTs, an X Terra 505, 4 - E Tracs, 5 - X Terra 705s, 5 - Excalibur II and 2 - GPX 5000s (the retail on these alone are $7000 each!).

The 'high' fee that is being charged? 100% of that fee will go to the thousands and thousands of dollars in gold, silver and other coins prizes to be awarded.

Still don't want to go? Good! The less people there means a better chance for ME to win one of these machines

Good Luck MoonDoggie..

I hope you win something. I know a couple of people that are attending, and I can't wait to hear who wins all these detectors, and if they are all given away.

Prizes

All of the metal detectors will definitely be given away - not only at the hunts, but a few will be raffled off at the dinner buffet - the FREE dinner buffet :D

I also know Ron DeGhetto who owns The Gold Digger (http://golddiggermetaldetectors.com)

He is a real nice guy and very generous as he is always donating metal detectors and digging tools to numerous clubs for their local hunts.

If you go to his website, you can download the flyer and registration form for the Atlantic City event.

There is also a lot of great info and new machine tests on his site as well.

Come to the Anaheim Event! It's only $25

Hi everyone -- new here (as you can see from number of posts). Husband usually does the posting, but I was feeling left out.

Rusty and I are helping out with the Minelab event in Anaheim. The fees are primarily decided by the local clubs that are coordinating the hunts. Our event is $25 on Saturday and includes admission to all the hunts, food, a $25 voucher towards a Minelab purchase and a donation to PLP. Minelab will be giving away 18 detectors over the weekend, valued at $25,000.

We've rented a private horse ranch for the weekend, it's beautiful and we hope to have lots of fun. If you're going to be in the Corona area, hope you can join us.

California Cheaper than New Jersey..

$195 vs $25 :wow::laughing:

Sounds like a fantastic event Sonia, Good Luck!

Thanks! Now in all fairness, Sunday is a bit more expensive. Sunday is primarily the annual hunt for the Riverside Treasure Hunters and the fees per hunt are to cover the coins and prizes for their club event.

No matter which event you go to -- I'm sure they will all be great.

I will be hunting in the atlantic city one on sunday and will be attending the dinner of saturday. Wish me luck please as this is my first group hunt

I used to live in Absecon, and Harrah's buffet truly is the best.....although my favorite place to lose money....er, I mean, gamble....was the Taj

Win one of those Minelabs!!!

I hope to I have the 705 so anything better would be awesome an excal would be great. I don't need the gold machine so I wouldn't want that... now if I won it I wouldn't say no thank you but I will take the etrac or excal over it

opps my bad thought today was friday got ahead of myself:lol: 10 more days to go but arrive on fri

I agree Terry, something is fishy here:) I think that the FREE buffett at Ceasars, isn't so free:)

I'm going to the event at ID dunes and it was ONLY $25. $25 for lunch, dinner, speakers, hunts, minimun raffles,12 detectors too:) Thats a steal, and the ones on the east coast are well....highway robbery:)
