Who else hunts street and sidewalk tear outs? Any luck? What have you found?

Oldtown sidewalk tear-outs are better than oldtown street tear-outs. I hunt them all the time.

Coins found run the gamut of everything from early wheaties (right on the dawn of cement walk installation), to seateds, to one of my gold coins.

Found this watch at a street tear up.
Took it to a watch guy and he looked it

up.
It’s a woman’s gold plated watch made in 1889. Inside is toast.

I've had really good luck in street tear outs, not so much in the curbs yet. Definitely worth hitting ANY tear outs you see if you have the opportunity, because you likely will NOT have another opportunity in your lifetime.

Definitely all good thoughts. If they’re tearing out something OLD it might be a better shot than if they’re tearing out something from the 1970’s...although any ground in an old part of an old town COULD hold something. If you have the time and it’s not a problem with anyone, have a look. Like Cellr said...it might be the only chance you ever have. Personally, I haven’t had any success hunting a handful of them besides a couple of Indians that were roasted, and a Merc sitting right in plain view.

50 foot sidewalk tear out gave me a 2 ringer minie ball and my oldest coin, a 1718 Reale 1

Ive done several. My first buffallo nickle was from a sidewalk repair that was only about 3 feet square. Anytime I see tearouts I hunt them if possible.
